Handling
The electrosurgical handpiece is used for electrotomy
(cutting), coagulation and desiccation in biterminal tech-
nique.
CAUTION
The patient must always hold the neutral electrode in his
hand during this procedure!
CAUTION
The connection socket is located on the bottom side of
the dentist element.
The handpiece is activated by actuating the foot
switch.
An intermittent acoustic signal then sounds and a
symbol for non-ionizing radiation is displayed.
CAUTION
For interference suppression reasons, the handpiece
may be used only for a few seconds.
The HF switches off after the handpiece is put back in its
receptacle. The programmed values of the previously
selected function level appear again the next time the
handpiece is removed from its receptacle.
CAUTION
Incorrect operation and the nonobservance of precau-
tionary measures can cause serious accidents when
working with the electrosurgical unit.
WARNING
There is a risk for patients with cardiac pacemakers
that the pacemaker can be disturbed during treat-
ment with the electrosurgical unit. We recommend
not using the electrosurgical unit for these patients.
Further WARNINGS for working with the surgi-
cal unit
The patient should not come into contact with metal-
lic parts which are grounded or have substantial ca-
pacitance to ground (e.g. operating table, holders).
The power output should be set to the lowest possi-
ble value for the relevant purpose.
If the surgical unit appears to deliver little power or
does not work properly in its normal setting, this may
be caused by a poor contact in the supply cable.
