fall-protection system. For each stopfor™ model exists
a particular type of anchor line, specially designed for
that stopfor™ model.
GB
Each stopfor™ model, in association with the relevant
anchor line, has undergone an EC-type examination
carried out by a notified body.
Using a stopfor™ on a non-adapted anchor
line for that model, as provided for in this
instruction manual, could prevent the device
from functioning, thus putting the operator's life
at grave risk when not preventing a fall.
• The stopfor™ SL is an opening fall arrester that
moves along a 14 mm stranded belay support; it
accompanies the user without requiring manual
intervention as it travels up or down. Its jaw
automatically clamps on the rope when a fall occurs.
• The stopfor™ B is a new-generation sliding fall
arrester that moves along a 14 mm stranded belay
support, it accompanies the user without requiring
manual intervention as it travels up or down. Its
articulated cam automatically locks on the braided
rope when a fall occurs.
• The stopfor™ BF is a new generation non-opening
fall arrester that is identical to the stopfor™ B.
• The stopfor™ MSP is a new generation sliding fall
arrester. It is a variant of the stopfor™ B to which
we have added:
– An anti-rollover system that avoids improper
placement of the stopfor™ on the belay support.
– A manual blocking function that allows the user
to lock the stopfor™ in a holding position at the
workstation on the braided rope.
• The stopfor™ K is a new-generation sliding fall
arrester that moves along a 11 mm halyard, it
accompanies the user without requiring manual
intervention as it travels up or down. Its articulated
cam automatically locks on the halyard when a fall
occurs.
• The stopfor™ KS is a stopfor™ K equipped with
an anti-rollover system that prevents improper
placement of the stopfor™ on the halyard.
• The stopfor™ KSP is a stopfor™ KS with an
additional manual locking feature that enables the
user to lock the stopfor™ in a hold position at the
workstation on the halyard.
Horizontal use
stopfor™ B/BF/MSP fall arrest devices have been
tested for horizontal use according to the European
data sheet CNB/P/11.075 of September 2018 on 0.5
mm min. edge radius.

DANGER
If the edge is considered to be cutting, or if there is a
sharp edge present, take all possible precautions to
prevent falling on this edge or set up cushioning on
the edge.
Before using the stopfor™ fall-arrester, check:
– That the stopfor™ fall-arrester anchor point is
located at the same height or above the edge
(figures 5.a, 5.b, 5.c).
– That the angle formed by the anchor line in contact
with the edge, in the event of a fall, is less than 90°
(figures 5.a, 5.b).
– To reduce the risk of swinging, the movement of the
operator is limited to a maximum distance of 1.50
m of lateral displacement perpendicular to the edge
(figure 6).
– That there is no obstacle under the suspension /
swing area in the event of a fall.
– That a specific rescue plan has been set up in the
event of a fall.
– That the roofs do not show any possibility of
weakness (fibro-cement, etc.). If in any doubt, install
a solid path of movement compatible with the roof.
– There are other possible cases that are not included
in this list. There are numerous other possibilities
that we cannot either list or foresee. In the event of
doubt or misunderstanding of this manual please
contact Tractel
for further information.

5. Operating principle

• The stopfor™ moves along a belay support. It
accompanies the operator without requiring manual
intervention during their travel up or down and
automatically clamps on the rope when a fall occurs.
The fall protection system consists of the components
described below.
See Page 2
1. Fixed anchorage point (I, page 2)
2. The anchor line (C/K, page 2)
The stopfor™ can only be used with anchor lines
certified exclusively by Tractel
• stopfor™ B, BF, MSP, SL
The belay support is a 14 mm diameter polyamide
stranded rope.
• stopfor™ K, KS, KSP
The belay support is a Tractel 11 mm diameter static
polyamide halyard.
For all belay devices (halyard or stranded rope), a
sewn loop is created at one end to secure the rope to
the anchor point. On the other side a manufactured
end (a knot) prevents unintentional release of the
stopfor™ from the belay support.
The anchor line's breaking resistance is equal to
22 kN.
