Using a stopfor™ on a non-adapted anchor
line for that model, as provided for in this
instruction manual, could prevent the device from
functioning, thus putting the operator's life at
grave risk when not preventing a fall.
• The stopfor™ K is a new generation sliding gate
fall arrester travelling along a 11mm anchor halyard
support, it accompanies the user without requiring
manual intervention during its travel up or down. Its
articulated cam automatically locks on the halyard
when a fall occurs.
• The stopfor™ KS is a stopfor™ K equipped with
an anti-rollover system that prevents improper
placement of the Blocfor™ on the belay support.
• The stopfor™ KSP is a stopfor™ KS with an
additional manual locking feature that allows the
user to lock the stopfor™ in the hold position at the
workstation on the halyard.
Horizontal use
Stopfor™ K / KS / KSP fall arresters have been tested
in horizontal use according to the European form
CNB/P/11.075 on September 2015 on radius ridge
0.5 mm min.
If the edge is considered to be cutting, or if there is a
sharp edge present, take all possible precautions to
prevent falling on this edge or set up cushioning on
the edge.
Before using the stopfor™ fall-arrester, check:
– that the stopfor™ fall-arrester anchor point is located
at the same height or above the edge (figures 5.a,
5.b, 5.c).
– That the angle formed by the anchor line in contact
with the edge, in the event of a fall, is less than 90°
(figures 5.a, 5.b).
– To reduce the risk of swinging, the movement of the
operator is limited to a maximum distance of 1.50
m of lateral displacement perpendicular to the edge
(figure 6).
– That there is no obstacle under the suspension /
swing area in the event of a fall.
– That a specific rescue plan has been set up in the
event of a fall.
– That the roofs do not show any possibility of
weakness (fibro-cement, etc.). If in any doubt, install
a solid path of movement compatible with the roof.
– There are other possible cases that are not included
in this list. There are numerous other possibilities
that we cannot either list or foresee. In the event of
doubt or misunderstanding of this manual please

5. Operating principle

• The stopfor™ moves along a belay support and
accompanies the operator without requiring manual
intervention during its travel up or down and locks
automatically on the rope when a fall occurs.
The fall protection system consists of the components
described below.
See Page 2
1. Fixed anchorage point (I, page 2)
2. The anchor line (C, page 2)
The stopfor™ can only be used with anchor lines
certified exclusively by Tractel
For all belay devices (halyard), a sewn loop is created
at one end to secure the rope to the anchor point. On
the other side a manufactured end (a knot) prevents
unintentional release of the stopfor™ from the carrier.
The anchor line's breaking resistance is equal to
22 kN.
The anchor line should be exclusively used as a safety
line when working at heights to enable access to the
work place in full security.
3. The stopfor™
• The stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (Figure 1 / page 2)
Stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (fig 2 / page 2) move freely
along the belay support. When a fall occurs, the
device pivots to bring the belay support into contact
with the upper part of the cam. The cam turns inside
the device and grabs the belay support.
For stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (fig 2 / page 2), the system
consists of two flanges articulated around the axis of
the cam (Figure 2, page 2, Q). The device is opened
by pivoting the mobile flange (R). The pressure of the
shaft is maintained on the anchor line by the shaft's
spring (Fig. 2, page 2, S). As soon as the anchor line
is in position and the connector has locked the two
flanges, it is no longer possible to open the device;
the anchor line is thus imprisoned inside.
For enhanced comfort when moving upward, the
belay support should be ballasted by applying a coil
or by placing a weight of 1 kg max. at the lower part.
For a better comfort when climbing, you need to
weight the belay support by coiling it or positioning a
weight of 1 kg maximum at the lower part.
4. Lanyard or connector (Figure 1, page 2, L)
Connector type end:
• M10: steel connector, lockable by means of a screw
ring.
• M11: steel connector, automatic locking by means of
a rotating ring.
