fall-protection system. For each stopfor™ model exists
a particular type of anchor line, specially designed for
that stopfor™ model.
GB
Each stopfor™ model, in association with the relevant
anchor line, has undergone an EC-type examination
carried out by a notified body.
Using a stopfor™ on a non-adapted anchor
line for that model, as provided for in this
instruction manual, could prevent the device
from functioning, thus putting the operator's life
at grave risk when not preventing a fall.
Horizontal use
stopfor™ fall-arresters have been tested in horizontal
use in accordance with European spec. CNB/P/11.075
September 2015 on edge radius min. 0.5 mm.
If the edge is considered to be cutting, or if there is a
sharp edge present, take all possible precautions to
prevent falling on this edge or set up cushioning on
the edge.
Before using the stopfor™ fall-arrester, check:
– that the stopfor™ fall-arrester anchor point is located
at the same height or above the edge (figures 5.a,
5.b, 5.c).
– That the angle formed by the anchor line in contact
with the edge, in the event of a fall, is less than 90°
(figures 5.a, 5.b).
– To reduce the risk of swinging, the movement of the
operator is limited to a maximum distance of 1.50
m of lateral displacement perpendicular to the edge
(figure 6).
– That there is no obstacle under the suspension /
swing area in the event of a fall.
– That a specific rescue plan has been set up in the
event of a fall.
– That the roofs do not show any possibility of
weakness (fibro-cement, etc.). If in any doubt, install
a solid path of movement compatible with the roof.
– There are other possible cases that are not included
in this list. There are numerous other possibilities
that we cannot either list or foresee. In the event of
doubt or misunderstanding of this manual please
contact Tractel

5. Operating principle

• The stopfor™ travels along a stranded anchor line,
by accompanying the operator without necessitating
any manual involvement during its journey up or
down, and automatically blocks on the rope in the
event of a fall.

The fall protection system consists of the components
described below.
See Page 2
1. Fixed anchorage point (A, page 2)
2. The anchor line (C, page 2)
The stopfor™ can only be used with anchor lines
certified exclusively by Tractel
The anchor line is a 14 mm-diameter, stranded,
polyamide rope, whose name begins with RLX
14 (for a 14 mm-diameter stranded rope) with the
rest of the name referring to the length, the type of
buckle and connector on the end of the rope. Each
anchor line is equipped with a buckle at one end to
fix the rope to the anchoring point. At the other end,
a machined tip prevents the stopfor™ from being
accidentally released from the anchor line. The
anchor line's breaking resistance is equal to 22 kN.
The anchor line should be exclusively used as a
safety line when working at heights to enable access
to the work place in full security.
3. The stopfor™
• T hestopfor™B(figure2,page2)
The stopfor™ B moves freely along the length of the
anchor line. When a fall occurs, the device pivots to
bring the belay support into contact with the upper
part of the cam. The cam turns inside the device and
grabs the belay support.
The system is comprised of two flanges articulated
around the camshaft (Fig. 2, page 2, Q). The device
is opened by pivoting the mobile flange (R). The
pressure of the shaft is maintained on the anchor line
by the shaft's spring (Fig. 2, page 2, S). As soon as
the anchor line is in position and the connector has
locked the two flanges, it is no longer possible to open
the device; the anchor line is thus imprisoned inside.
For enhanced comfort when moving upward, the
belay support should be ballasted by applying a coil
or by placing a weight of 1 kg max. at the lower part.
• TheStopfor™P(Fig.2,page2)
By way of a lanyard, the user is attached to the jaw
(I), the control lever (K) and the clevis mounting (J),
all of which are interdependent. The Stopfor™ P
moves automatically along the anchor line. Due to
a slight tension, equivalent to the device's weight,
transmitted to the user via the lanyard, the jaw is
opened and the Stopfor™ P can move along.
4. The lanyard (Fig. 1, page 2, L)
End type lanyard:
• L0.3 M10: lanyard strap length 0.3m fitted with one
M10 connector.
• L0.3 M11: lanyard strap length 0.3m fitted with one
M11 connector.
