The anchor line should be exclusively used as a
safety line when working at heights to enable access
to the work place in full security.
3. The stopfor™
NOTE:
For
the
maintenance the belay is delivered without a
manufactured end. It is the operator who will create
this end to prevent the unintentional release of the
stopfor™ from the belay support.
• The stopfor™ SL (fig. 3, page 2)
The jaw (I) is integral with the control lever (K)
to which the user is attached via a lanyard. The
stopfor™ SL moves automatically along the belay
support. The slight tension transmitted by the user
via the lanyard and allows the opening of the jaw and
the movement of the stopfor ™ SL.
The flanges of the stopfor™ SL are open to allow the
installation of the belay support.
To install the stopfor™ SL on the belay support two
simultaneous actions are required to open and close
the flanges,
– press the lock (D),
– screw in / unscrew the knurled knob (E).
Before installing the stopfor™ SL on its belay
support, check that:
– the belay support is in place vertically (with a
maximum authorised angle of 30° or a maximum
displacement of 3 m from the vertical),
– the belay support is connected to its upper end,
– the key (N) of the stopfor ™ SL allows the closing
of the device on the belay support,
If the device is presented so that the arrow engraved
on the flange is turned upwards.
If the user falls, the lever tilts 45° under the action of
the force applied by the lanyard and the jaw snaps to
block the rope against the mobile flange (F).
• The stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (Fig 1 / page 2) and the
stopfor™ B/BF/MSP (Fig. 2, page 2)
The stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (Fig 2 / page 2) and the
stopfor ™ B/BF/MSP move freely along the belay
support.
When a fall occurs, the device tilts, which brings the
belay support into contact with the upper part of the
cam. The cam rotates inside the device and pinches
the belay support.
For stopfor™ K/KS/KSP (fig 2 / page 2) and stopfor™
B/MSP, the system consists of two flanges hinged
around the axis of the cam (Figure 2, page 2, Q). The
unit opens by rotating the movable flange (R). The
spring of the cam (Figure 2, page 2, S) keeps the
cam under pressure on the belay support. When the
belay bracket is in place and the connector locks the
two flanges, it is no longer possible to open the unit;
the belay support is then a prisoner of the device.
stopfor™
BF,
during
The stopfor™ KS, KSP, MSP are equipped with
an anti-rollover system (Fig. 8, page 2, T) which
guarantees the direction of operation of the stopfor™
on the belay support. If the stopfor™ is presented
opposite the vertical belay support, the anti-rollover
system locks the jaw (Fig. 8, page 2, Q). This
operation prohibits the installation of the stopfor™ on
its belay support.
• Stopfor™ BF (Figure 2, page 2)
Stopfor™ BF moves freely along the belay support.
When a fall occurs, the device tilts, which brings the
belay support into contact with the upper part of the
cam. The cam rotates inside the device and pinches
the belay support.
For the stopfor™ BF, the flange (R) is non-moving,
which makes the device non-opening. The stopfor™
BF is inseparable from the flexible belay support.
For improved comfort when climbing, you need to
ballast the belay support by coiling it or positioning a
weight of 1 kg maximum at the lower part.
In
accordance
with
CNB/P/11.080 when the KSP/MSP stopfor is used
for maintenance/suspension at the workstation. A fall
arrest system must be used.
