- Please keep your posture such that
you do not injure yourself if you slip
off the workpiece.
- Only use insert tools that are in per-
fect condition.
- Insert tools can become extremely
hot. Do not touch the insert tool after
a cut and make sure that the multi-
tool is in a safe place when the work
is finished.
- When working on masonry or on ceil-
ings, pay special attention to the rout-
ing of electrical cables and water and
drain pipes.
Safety instructions regarding
sanding paints
- Do not sand paints containing lead.
Determine if the paint to be sanded
contains lead before starting work.
Dust from lead-based paints can
cause poisoning.
- Whether the paint contains lead can
be determined by a special test or
by a commercial painting company.
If in doubt, use a special dust mask
against lead-containing fine dust.
Please consult a specialist about this.
- Sanding lead-based paints, certain
types of wood and metals can pro-
duce harmful or toxic dusts. Touching
or breathing in this dust can be haz-
ardous to the operator and anybody
else in the vicinity. Protect yourself
and nearby persons from touching or
inhaling these dusts by using appro-
priate personal protective equipment.
Normal dust masks are not safe.
- Keep children and pregnant women
out of the room and workplace where
66
sanding is taking place.

- Refrain from eating, drinking and
smoking while working. Clean your
hands before eating, drinking or
smoking. Do not leave food or bever-
ages exposed as there is a risk of dust
accumulation.
- Clean the surfaces of the work area
thoroughly after sanding.
Safety instructions regarding dust
extraction
Dust from materials with lead-based
paint, some types of wood, minerals
and metal can be harmful to health.
Touching or inhaling this dust may
cause the device operator, or person-
nel in the vicinity, to develop allergic
reactions and/or respiratory illnesses.
Certain dust types – such as oak or
beech dust – are considered to be car-
cinogenic, especially when combined
with additives used for wood treatment
(chromate, wood preservatives).
- Use a special vacuum cleaner when
extracting dust that is particularly haz-
ardous to health, carcinogenic or dry.
- Ensure good ventilation of the work-
place.
- Wear a dust mask with filter class P2
when working with dust. If the mul-
ti-tool is equipped with a connection
of dust extraction and/or dust col-
lection equipment, connect the dust
extraction equipment.
- Adhere to regulations valid in your
country for the materials to be pro-
cessed.
- Be especially careful when disposing
of dust, as some materials can be
explosive in dust form. Do not throw
sanding dust into a fire. Mixtures of
