cuitbreaker. Use of an RCD reduces
the risk of electric shock. NOTE: The
term "residual current device (RCD)"
may be replaced by the term "ground
fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)" or
"earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB)".
Personal safety
a) Be careful and ensure that you pay
attention to what you are doing, and
make sure you are using the power
tool sensibly. Do not use a power
tool if you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medi
cation. A moment of inattention while
operating a power tool may result in
serious personal injury.
b) Wear personal protective equip
ment and always wear protective
goggles. Wearing personal protec-
tive equipment such as a dust mask,
non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, or ear
defenders, according to the type of
power tool and the usage, will reduce
the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid unintentional startup. Make
sure the power tool is switched off
before connecting it to the power
supply and/or battery, picking it up
or carrying it. If you have your finger
on the switch when moving the power
tool or have the power tool switched
on when connecting to the power
supply, this may lead to accidents.
d) Remove adjusting keys or wrenches
before turning on the power tool.
A wrench or a key left attached to a
rotating part of the power tool may
cause injury.
e) Avoid any abnormal body posture.
Ensure that you have a secure
stance and keep your balance at all
64

times. This enables better control of
the power tool in the event of unex-
pected situations.
f) Wear appropriate clothing. Do not
wear loose clothing or jewellery.
Keep hair and clothing away from
moving parts. Loose clothing, jew-
ellery or long hair may be caught by
moving parts.
g) If dust extraction and collection
systems can be fitted, connect them
and use them correctly. Using dust
extraction systems can reduce dust
related hazards.
h) Do not assume a false sense of
security and do not overstep the
safety rules for power tools, even
if you are familiar with the power
tool after many uses. Careless action
can lead to serious injuries within split
seconds.
Power tool use and care
a) Do not overload the power tool. Use
the appropriate power tool for the
task in hand. The correct power tool
will do the job better and safer in the
specified performance range.
b) Do not use a power tool if the
switch is defective. Any power tool
that cannot be switched on or off is
dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Pull the plug out of the socket and/
or remove a removable battery
pack before making any changes
to the device settings, changing
insert tools or putting the power
tool down. This precautionary safe-
ty measure prevents the risk of the
power tool starting up accidentally.
