In accordance with European specifications, each of the
components attached together, numbered from 1) to 6) above,
marketed by Tractel
®
, has received CE marking, as a result of an
EC type-examination, and has been subject to production quality
control.

equipment described in this manual

• complies with the requirements of European Directive
89/686/EEC of December 1989
• is identical to the PPE which was the subject of type examination
certificates issued by lʼAPAVE SUDEUROPE SAS - BP 193 -
13322 Marseille - France, identified by the number 0082, and
tested in accordance with the EN 353-2 standard;
• is subject to the procedure provided for in Art. 11B of the
89/686/EEC Directive, under the control of a notified body :
lʼAPAVE SUDEUROPE SAS - BP 193 - 13322 Marseille -
France, identified by the number 0082.
Any company assigning personal fall protection equipment to an
employee or similar person must apply the health and safety at
work regulations.
Within the European Union, these devices must be checked
periodically in accordance with the 89/656/EEC Directive dated
30/11/89 (i.e. at least once a year, by Tractel
Tractel
®
S.A.S. authorised repair company).
The annual inspection will enable the expiry date to be extended
by one year, up to a maximum of 10 years.
The marking on each product indicates:
a: the trade mark: Tractel
b: the designation of the product: e.g. Stopfor™ S;
c: the referenced standard: number and year of the norm
(see table p. 83). If the year for EN 353-2 is not indicated on
the device, it concerns EN 353-2 (1993);
d: the reference of the product code: Group code
e: the "EC" marking designates that the equipment complies with
the requirements of the 89/686/EEC PPE Directive. "0082"
indicates the number of the notified body under Article 11;
f: the date of manufacture;
g: the serial number;
h: a pictogram indicating that it is necessary to read the
instruction manual before use;
i: an arrow indicating the position for use;
k: the location of the anchor line;
Always check clearance before use;
m: the type of anchor line to be exclusively used:
: halyard;
: strandd rope;
n: diameter of belay support to be used.

Periodic inspections

When a Stopfor™ is obviously not in good condition or has
arrested a fall, it must be inspected by Tractel
authorised and competent technician in accordance with the
instructions contained in the Tractel

S.A.S or by a
Marking

PPE inspection file.

The Tractel
®
PPE inspection file is available free from the Tractel
website "www.tractel.com".
Yearly servicing is necessary; however, depending on
frequency and severity of use, environmental conditions and
the regulations of the company or the country where used,
periodic inspections may be more frequent.
Periodic inspections should be carried out by an authorised
and competent technician, in compliance with the manufacturerʼs
instructions transcribed in the Tractel
instructions" file.
Confirm legibility of the marking on the product during the periodic
inspection.
A return to service must be made in writing, under the
responsibility of the authorised and competent technician who
carried out the inspection.
Return to service of the product must be recorded on the
inspection record which can be found in the centre of this manual
This inspection record should be retained throughout the
productʼs life cycle, up until it is recycled.

PPE textiles such as harnesses, lanyards, ropes and
shock absorbers, Tractel
®
Stopcable™ and Stopfor™ fall arresters, Blocfor™ self retracting
fall arresters, and Tractel
®
restrictions from their manufacturing date providing that:
- A normal use is made in accordance with the instructions
manual,
- A periodic inspection should be carried out at least once
a year by a competent person, who will, after inspection,
authorise in writing that the PPE is fit to be returned to service,
- Instructions manual procedures for storage and transport are
strictly met.
