9.2.4 Fluid Deficit Measurement Test
The test setup is depicted in Fig. Test setup for fluid deficit measurement [} 46]. It
is critical that the collection container is positioned on the scale as shown in Fig.

1.
Carry out the scale test (see Chapter Scale Test [} 39]).
2.
Hang the fluid bag (holding at least 1.5 l of fluid) onto one of the hooks of the
bag scale.
3.
Position one collection container properly in the respective holders of the con-
tainer scale. Use one of the places at the back of the scale.
4.
Turn the system on.
5.
Once the display depicts Insert Tube Set, insert a tube set into the pump.
6.
Connect the tube set with the fluid bag and open the clamps.
7.
Fix the other end of the tube set in the recesses at the back of the pump tray
(see Fig. Test setup for fluid deficit measurement [} 46]) so that the tube end
with the luer lock hangs freely in the container.
8.
Place the middle tube section on the pump so that it does neither touch con-
tainer scale nor the bag scale (see Fig. Test setup for fluid deficit measurement
[} 46]).
9.
Press the Prime button.
10. Once the display depicts Prime Successful Close Stopcock, press the Pause/Re-
sume button to stop fluid flow.
11. Zero the deficit display.
12. Press the Pause/Resume button to start fluid flow.
13. Allow the system to run for 1 minute (use a stop watch).
14. Press the Pause/Resume button to stop fluid flow.
15. The displayed fluid deficit should be 0 ml. The permissible tolerance is ±50 ml.
The test is successfully completed when the results are within the permissible tol-
erance limit.
