Assembling the pump

Before starting assem-
bly work soak all leather
packing pieces in SAE-30
W oil for at least 1 hour.
Add the support ring (204)
to the piston rod. Add
UHMWPE (208) and lea-
ther packing pieces (218)
alternately to the piston
rod - pay attention to ali-
gnment! Install the counter
ring (217). Add the piston

wiper (216) (pay attention
to alignment!) and rein-
forcing plate (229) to the
piston valve (210). The
special sealing stain on
the piston valve thread is
sufficient for four packing
changes. Apply LOCTITE
to the piston valve thread
after the packing pieces
have been changed four
times.

cylinder. Press the packing
pieces together.

Insert the ball (206) into
the piston rod. If LOCTITE
has been applied to the
piston valve thread, make
sure the ball does not
come into contact with any
LOCTITE.

Insert the seal (201) into
the packing nut (202).
Install the spacer (228)
for neck adjustment on
the packing nut. Fit the
packing nut loosely in the
cylinder.

Tighten the piston valve to
the piston rod as specified:
tighten with 36.6 +/- 4
Nm (model 248204,
253056)
tighten with 74.6 +/- 4
Nm (model 248205,
259057, 249059)
14.
Grease the piston packing
pieces.
CAUTION
Do not slide the piston up
into the bushing, as this
may damage the piston
packing.
