Parking (fig. 35)
Stop and park the motorcycle on the side stand
(see page 28).
To prevent theft, turn the handlebar fully left and turn the
ignition key to the LOCK position.
If you park in a garage or other indoor area, make sure that
there is proper ventilation and that the motorcycle is not

near a source of heat.
If necessary, you can leave the parking lights on by turning
the key to position P.
Important
Do not leave the key at P for long periods or the
battery will run down. Never leave the motorcycle
unattended with the ignition key inserted.
Warning
The exhaust system might still be hot even if the
engine is switched off; take special care not to touch
exhaust system with any part of your body and do not
park the motorcycle next to inflammable material (wood,
leaves, etc.).
Warning
Using padlocks or other locks designed to prevent
movement of the motorcycle (such as brake disc locks,
rear sprocket locks, and so on) is very dangerous, and may
impair motorcycle operation and the safety of rider and
passenger.
