welded using the optionally available clamping assemblies or welding
neck support.
To fit the cast-aluminum master clamps to the base plates,
the bolts have to be placed into the holes of the plates that
match the mark at the center of rotation used for the brass
Important
pin. When it is placed into the center of rotation surrounded
by a hexagon, the bolts have to be fitted into "hexagon
holes" and likewise in "square holes" when the center of
rotation surrounded by a square is used. The center of rota-
tion used depends on the (angled) joint in hand. Holes sur-
rounded by a triangle are meant for fastening the special
clamps for Y branch-offs, holes crossed out by an X mark, for
fastening the special clamps for tees and crosspieces (refer
to Sect. 5.1, 5.2).
Angle scale and arrangement
cast-aluminum master clamps
On both carriages of the machine, the master clamp assemblies are
fastened to the base plates using three bolts each. For the manufac-
ture of segmented bends, align the outer edges of the clamps with
the desired angle in the chart on the base plate. Keep in mind that
the angle value on the chart is the desired angled of the finished
bend. For instance, if you plan to produce a 45 deg. joint, align both
clamping assemblies on the 45 deg. value of the chart rather than on
the 22.5 deg. value.
For the production of tees, crosspieces or Y branch-offs, the clamps
have to be aligned and fastened according to the sketch for the weld-
ing operation in hand. Refer to Sect. 5.2 for more information.
Under the slots and holes in the master clamps meant to be used for
fastening them, only those holes of the base plates surrounded by a
triangle, square or hexagon or crossed out by an X are accessible which
are actually meant to have fastening bolts fitted into them.
When the master clamping assemblies are ready, install the appropri-
ate reducer inserts in them if the size of the components to be welded
is smaller than the diameter of the master clamps. When fastening
the reducers in the clamps, be sure not to damage the surface of the
clamps by impacts of the reducers or the tools you use.
