Commissioning and Operation
Damage to the cylinder caused by excessive striking force!
Excessive striking forces can destroy the cylinder.
Adjust the cushioning to the load during operation.
After changing the piston speed, you need to readjust the cushioning.

On double-acting cylinders, the effective piston surface and
piston force are lower during retraction than extension due to
the cylinder piston rod. This does not apply to cylinders with a
through piston rod.

8.1.2 Setting the cushioning

Proceed as follows:
1. Turn the throttle screws for cushioning (6) clockwise up to the
stop and then turn them back a full rotation.
This basic setting (A) prevents the piston from impacting
without cushioning and damaging the cylinder.
If the piston moves into the end position with an oscillating
movement:
2. Turn the throttle screw counterclockwise to reduce the
cushioning.
The cushioning procedure will be shortened and the impact
stress increased (B).
3. Turn the throttle screw further counterclockwise until the
00127018
impact stress is at a minimum (C).
4. The piston speed will increase as a result of this.
If a loud impact is audible (D):
5. Turn the throttle screw clockwise until the impact stress is at
a minimum (C).
Ideal cushioning has been attained when the total stroke time is
short with a minimal impact noise.
In large pneumatic systems, the working pressure can change
depending on the number of consumers. Cushioning must
then be adapted to the modified working pressure.
