Switching on the PTO drive:
Risk of injury!
The PTO drive turns in the drive
settings 0/R, 1 and 2.
Note, however, that the machine
starts moving in settings 1 and 2
when the self-propulsion lever is
actuated.
● Start the engine. (

0/R.

● 1 Press release lever (1) to the stop
and hold.
● 2 Press self-propulsion lever (2)
quickly to the stop and hold.
● Release release lever (1).
The PTO drive is engaged and the PTO
turns.
● 3 Disengage the drive:
Release self-propulsion lever (2).
Switching off the PTO drive:
● Release the self-propulsion lever.
● Stop the engine. (

The throttle lever is used to regulate the
speed of the PTO drive. (

10. Safety devices

The machine is equipped with several
safety devices for safe operation and for
the prevention of improper use.
Risk of injury!
Safety devices must not be
removed, bypassed, modified or
damaged. If a safety device is
found to be defective, the machine
must not be operated. Consult a
specialist dealer; STIHL
recommends STIHL specialist
dealers.
10.1 Self-propulsion lever lock
The self-propulsion lever is mechanically
locked for safety reasons. This prevents
inadvertent actuation.
The release lever must be pressed before
the self-propulsion lever can be actuated.

The reverse drive lever is mechanically
locked for safety reasons. This prevents
inadvertent actuation.
