3. INSTALLATION AND CABLING
3.4.4 CABLING FROM UDAT / UDAT POWER+ TO UVALVE (UMETER / UMETER+) TO UDAT / UDAT POWER+
(ONLY FOR TWO CONNECTORS UDATS)
In the attached picture you can see the wiring connection. This is a clear
example of how to connect the wiring. I want to emphasize the
importance of not connecting the power from two different units.
You see in the picture that the UValve is powered up by UDat No. 1 and
only communication is linked to UDat No. 2.
If two powered units are in between more than one non-externally
powered unit, it is compulsory to split power in the circuit. In this case,
UValve and UMeter are powered up by UDat No. 2.
Note: As CAN bus is a bus for industrial applications, it is protected
against parasites and other perturbations that may exist in a garage.
Nevertheless, to have a good function, the following rules must be
respected:
• Do always connect the armours/shields in the two endpoints of
the line.
• The network cables must not be placed near or parallel with
the power supplies or power supply cables; If it is not possible to
avoid the crossing of these cables, this must be done in a 90º angle.
• If the power supply cable and network cable must go in the same way,
these must be separated with the power cable at one side
and the network cable at the other.
• Do never connect the power to an equipment without first
have checked that the earth cabling is done correctly.
3.4.5 CABLING FROM UNET TO UDAT / UDAT+
In this case, as both units are powered up by an external source, the only
wire that have to be connected are SHIELD / WHITE / BLUE
(Communication).
3.4.6 CABLING FROM UTANK TO UVALVE /
UMETER / UMETER+
In this case, as both units are powered up by an external source, the only
wire that have to be connected are:
BLUE / WHITE / SHIELD (Communication).
3.4.7 CABLING FROM UTANK TO UDAT / UDAT+
In this case, as both units are powered up by an external source, the only
wire that have to be connected are:
SHIELD / WHITE / BLUE (Communication).

This cabling philosophy must ALWAYS be followed when two different
externally powered units power up any unit.

3.4.8 POWER CONNECTION
This item applies to all the externally powered units, that is to say:
• UDat / UDat+, UPower / UPower+, UTank, UNet
The devices are configured for 110 VAC / 240 VAC mains power.
An stand-alone 3x1.5mm
rigid cable connected to the circuit breaker is
2
to be used. No electrical derivations from the circuit breaker to other
devices must be connected.
The use of a differential switch 300 mA of 10 Amperes
is highly recommended.
Note: This equipment includes metallic parts that the user easily gets in
contact with. These elements may accidentally be crossed with hazard
current. AN INSTALLATION MUST THEREFORE NEVER BE POWERED
