3. INSTALLATION AND CABLING
3.3.5 UMETER / UMETER+
This equipment is designed to be installed directly in the distribution pipe
line. The meter has a 1/2" BSP connection at both inlet and outlet. It also
includes an inlet flange and an outlet flange with seating for an O-ring seal.
Avoid installing the unit between rigid connections to prevent efforts
transmission of the pipeline.
It is recommended to install a pressure relief system on the line to prevent
damage from thermal expansion.
To prevent damage from dirt or solid particles carried by the fluid is
recommended the installation of a 200 mesh strainer at the unit inlet.
It is advised to install the solenoid valve associated to the UMeter at the
unit inlet. Do not install the solenoid valve at the unit outlet to avoid the
unit being pressurized when the valve is closed.
3.3.6 UVISION / UVISION+
Follow the next procedure in order to install the U·Vision unit on a control gun:
1. Mount the extension outlet (1) if it is not already attached.
2. In the case that the control gun has the plastic cover (2) mounted,
remove it by means of a screwdriver or similar tool. The cover is
pressure mounted, it should be easily removed. If the flange cover is
mounted, remove it as well.
3. Slide the UVision unit (3) through the extension outlet (1) untill it
remains properly fitted onto the flange.
4. By means of the nut, screw and washer kit (4) provided, attach the
unit to the flange as indicated in the figure.
3.3.7 UTANK
The unit can be fixed to the wall or others fixtures of the installation by
means of the rear fixations.
3.4 NETWORK CABLING
NexU cabling has five wires (BLUE / WHITE / SCREEN / RED / BLACK).
Although is not compulsory to follow this sequence, it is highly
recommended to do so in order to follow this manual.
Following international conventions, blue / white and screen are used for
transferring information and red / black are used for supplying power (in
our case 24 VDC).
Not in all cases, all the elements have to be powered up by the network.
In some of the elements, power comes from external source.
As a brief summary:
• UDat / UDat Power+: 110 VAC / 240 VAC from customer power
electric network.
• UPower / UPower+: 110 VAC / 240 VAC from customer power
electric network.
• UValve: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UCount: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UView: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UMeter/ UMeter+: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UVision / UVision+: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UPulser / UPulser+: 24 VDC from NexU network.
• UTank: 110 VAC / 240 VAC from customer power electric network.
• UNet: 110 VAC / 240 VAC from customer power electric network.
Units that are powered up by the customer power electric network,
transfer power to the units that are powered by the NexU network.
Therefore DO NOT POWER UP TWO UNITS AT THE SAME TIME FROM
DIFFERENT 110 VAC / 240 VAC SOURCES.

As a guideline, the maximum length of a wiring coming from a 110 VAC
/ 240 VAC source has to be:
Max Lenght =
2 < No. of Units < 8
Note: As the CAN bus is a bus for industrial applications, it is protected
against interference and other disturbances that may exist in a workshop.
However, in order to function properly, the following rules must
be observed.
• Always connect the armatures/shields at both ends of the line.
• Mains cables should not be laid close to or in parallel with
power supplies or power cables; if it is not possible to avoid crossing
these cables, it should be done at a 90° angle.
• If the power cable and mains cable must run in the same way, they
should be separated with the power cable on one side and
the mains cable on the other.
• Never connect power to equipment without first verifying
that the grounding wiring is done correctly.
