Sensor settings
The following parameters can be set in the LifeTest sub-
menu:
● To define when to start a test run, select Time.
Enter a time and confirm. The test run is started when this
time is reached on the transmitter.
Transmitters do not support an automatic daylight
savings changeover.
● To define the value to be output via the transmitter during
the LifeTest, select Output behavior.
Select and confirm Fixed, Maintenance or Measurement
val..
● To define whether retests are to be carried out in a test run
if a LifeTest has a negative test result, select Repetition
mode.
Select and confirm Flexible.
If Static is selected, no retests are carried out and a new
test run is carried out at the indicated time instead.
● To define when to abort a LifeTest, select Cancel
threshold.
Enter a value and confirm.
During a LifeTest, test gas is applied to the Dräger
SensorAlive. This causes the measured value to rise. To
prevent an alarm from being triggered, the measured
value is not transmitted for a maximum of 15 minutes by
default. The behavior during a LifeTest can be configured
in the Output behavior menu, however. Independent of
this, the sensor detects a gas leak if the measured gas
concentration is greater than the gas concentration
expected as a result of the LifeTest. The difference
corresponds to the concentration of the gas leak and is
compared with the value entered in Cancel threshold. If
this value is exceeded, the LifeTest is immediately
aborted. The sensor switches back to measuring mode
and the transmitter once again outputs a measured value.
If relays are used, these are tripped on the transmitter
and, where applicable, an alarm is triggered.
The following parameters can be set in the Sensitiv. check
sub-menu:
● To define whether a warning needs to be issued, select
and confirm Activation.
● To define when a warning must be output, select and
confirm Alert < 50% or Alert < 40%.

13.8.1 Sensor type
This function defines the sensor type installed.
1. Select Settings > Sensor > Sensor type and confirm.
2. Select the sensor type and confirm.
13.8.2 Gas settings
This function sets the unit of measurement.
For LC sensors, this function also sets the full scale
deflection.
1. Select Settings > Sensor > Gas settings and confirm.

2. Select the unit of measurement from the list and confirm.
 For DQ sensors and DSIR:
 For LC sensors:
3. Set the full scale deflection and confirm (only for LC
sensors).
 An overview of the new gas settings is displayed.
4. After review, select Back to menu or Confirm.

13.8.3 Setting the DQ sensor latching
This feature is only available if there are no relays installed.
This feature is used to determine whether the DQ sensor
must be acknowledged after measuring a concentration
higher than 100 %LEL.
This setting does not apply for LC sensors.
1. Select and confirm Settings > Sensor > DQ Sensor
Latching.
 The current setting is displayed.
2. Select and confirm Enable or Disable.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard
If sensor latching is disabled and an alarm indicating an
explosion hazard is acknowledged, the instrument informs the
end user of such hazard by having the red LED on the display
being continuously lit.
► Before acknowledging an over range, ensure that the gas
concentration has fallen under 100%LEL.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard possible
Operation is non-compliant with BVS type examination.

If DQ sensor latching is disabled, for safe operation in
accordance with BVS 13 ATEX G 001 X, the central controller
must support this function.
► Make sure that over range latching is active at the display
unit.

13.9.1 Changing the gas category
The DrägerSensor IR can measure gases and vapors that
belong to the methane, propane, or ethene (ethylene) gas
categories. A gas category must be set for the
DrägerSensor IR depending on which target gas is to be
measured. For the assignment of gases and vapors to the gas
categories, see the DrägerSensor IR documentation.
Instructions for use
An overview of the new gas settings is displayed.
Continue with step 4.
The current full scale deflection is displayed. Continue
with step 3.
Select Back to menu for leav-
ing the function without
changes and confirm with

Select Confirm to accept the
settings and confirm with
