11.8.2 Configuring relay A1 or A2
This function defines whether the alarm relay is energized
during normal operation or energized at an alarm condition.
1. Select Settings > Instrument > Alarm> Relay A1 or
Relay A2 and confirm.
2. Select the desired option and confirm.
The relay contact is energized during nor-
Normally
energized
mal operation and changes if an alarm is
triggered. At a loss of power this triggers an
alarm (fail-safe).
If an alarm is triggered, the relay contact is

alarm
energized.
11.8.3 Setting fault relay warm-up 1
This function is used to set operation of the fault relay during
warm-up 1 to indicate the warm-up 1 state on the relay output.
1. Select Settings > Instrument > Alarm> Fault warm up
the desired option and confirm.
static
The fault relay triggers a connected alarm
indicator permanently.
The orange LED is lit continuously.
dynamic
The fault relay switches state for 9 seconds.
Example:
– A horn is connected to fault relay output
Normally Open.
– Relays are configured as normally ener-
gized.
 The horn and the orange LED of the
transmitter are 1 second active and 9
seconds in-active.
11.9 Alarm configuration
11.9.1 Switching the alarms on or off
1. Select Settings > Instrument > Alarm > Alarm on/off.
Enable
Disable
2. Select Enable or Disable and confirm.
32
Alarm signaling is on.
Alarm signaling is off.
LEDs, relays and interfaces
do not indicate an alarm con-
dition.
The 4-20mA interface trans-
mits the maintenance signal.
The measured value and the
symbol
are displayed.
The fault relay indicates a
fault.
Instructions for use
11.9.2 Configuring alarms
1. Select and confirm Settings > Instrument > Alarm >
Alarm A1 or Alarm A2.
The current alarm threshold is displayed.
2. Accept the displayed suggestion or change the following
settings (confirm the configuration steps one after the
other with Next):
a. Set the value for the alarm threshold.
b. Set the alarm direction.
The alarm direction is called rising if the gas
Rising
concentration has to exceed a certain value
to activate an alarm.
Falling
The alarm direction is called falling if the
gas concentration has to fall below a certain
value to activate an alarm.
c. Set the latch mode.
Once the alarm threshold is reached, the
Latching
instrument will trigger the alarm. It will
remain in the alarm state even if the gas
concentration no longer meets the alarm
condition. To clear a latching alarm, it must
be acknowledged.
Non-latching
The alarm state clears if the gas concentra-
tion no longer meets the alarm condition.
d. Set the acknowledgement mode.
Acknowledge-
The alarm relay and the alarm LED can be
able
reset before the alarm condition clears.
Non-acknowl-
The alarm relay and the alarm LED cannot
be reset until the alarm condition clears.
edgeable
The alarm state can be acknowledged
Pre-Acknowl-
edgeable
before the alarm condition clears. The
alarm relay and the alarm LED stay active
until the alarm condition clears, however.
e. Set the hysteresis value.
The hysteresis function defines a range in which a
triggered relay will remain in its state until the gas
concentration is outside the defined range again.
Example: The alarm threshold is set to 40 ppm and
hysteresis to 3 ppm. The alarm remains active until the
value falls below 37 ppm. This prevents relays from
closing and opening in rapid succession at an alarm
threshold ("chattering").
If the direction of an alarm is changed (from falling
to rising or vice versa), the hysteresis value must be
checked and corrected if necessary.
 A confirmation screen shows all settings.
f. Select Confirm and confirm with OK.
✓ The new settings are saved.
