13.4 Setting calibration interval
After the calibration interval expires, the instrument will issue
a warning that the calibration is past due.
1. Select Settings > Sensor > Cal. interval and confirm.
2. Set the calibration interval and confirm with [OK].
13.5 Setting sensor lock
This point is only valid for Polytron 8100 EC and Polytron
87x0 IR.
1. Select Settings >Sensor > Sensor lock and confirm.
2. Select On or Off.
On
The instrument rejects any sensor whose
part number does not match the part num-
ber of the previously installed sensor.
The instrument accepts any suitable sensor,

uploading the default settings of this sensor.
However, this overwrites any customized
settings with the default settings of the new
sensor.
13.6 Software dongles for EC sensors
13.6.1 Installing the dongle
1. Switch off power to the instrument or declassify the area
according to the local regulations.
2. Loosen set-screw and unscrew lid from instrument.
3. Insert the dongle with the Dräger logo facing upwards in
the slot of the PCB unit, See figure D on the fold-out page.
4. Position the PCB unit back cover and close the instrument
(see "Closing the gas detector", page 14).
13.6.2 Deactivating dongles
This function deactivates a dongle to safely remove the
dongle or if the dongle is faulty.
A dongle can only be reactivated by cycling the power to the
instrument.
1. Select Settings > Instrument > SW dongle > and the
dongle to be deactivated, and confirm.
2. Select Deactivation func.. The selected dongle is
deactivated.
13.7 Sensor settings Polytron
13.7.1 Sensor self-test
This function is only active if the sensor-test dongle or
diagnostic dongle is installed. If the sensor does not pass the
self-test, a warning or error message is issued.
Setting regular sensor self-tests
This feature triggers the sensor self-test at regular intervals.
The instrument then routinely checks that the sensor is
functioning correctly.
1. Select and confirm Settings > Sensor > Set Sensortest.
2. Select and confirm Enable or Disable.

Starting sensor test manually
This function starts a single sensor self-test.
1. Select Settings > Sensor > Sensor test and confirm.
2. Start sensor test is displayed.
3. Select Confirm.
✓ The test result is displayed.
13.7.2 Gas settings
This function sets the gas type, measuring range, and units of
measurement. Different settings are possible depending on
the installed sensor.
1. Select and confirm Settings > Sensor > Gas settings.
The current measured gas is displayed.
2. Select and confirm the measured gas from the list.
The current unit of measurement is displayed.
3. Select and confirm the unit of measurement from the list.
The current full scale deflection is displayed.
4. For certain EC sensors only: Set and confirm the full scale
deflection.
The new full scale deflection is displayed.
5. Select and confirm Next.
An overview of the new gas settings is displayed.
6. After reviewing it, select Back to menu or Confirm.

13.7.3 Dräger SensorAlive settings
This menu lets you select various parameters that define the
behavior of the Dräger SensorAlive:
● To activate or deactivate the LifeTest functions of the
sensor, select and confirm Settings > Sensor >
SensorAlive > DSA activation.
Select and confirm Enable or Disable.
● To acknowledge a clogged sensor, select Settings >
Sensor > SensorAlive > Ack faults.
● To enable or disable fault detection, select and confirm
Settings > Sensor > SensorAlive > Fault detection.
Select and confirm Enable or Disable.
The SensorAlive menu has the following sub-menus:
– LifeTest
– Sensitivity monitoring
