OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to follow these instructions may reduce respirator performance, expose you to contaminants above the OEL,
and may result in sickness or death.
• If using D7N11 or D7P71 filters:
• ensure one is installed onto each side of the cartridge (two total per cartridge),
• ensure filters, filter retainer, and cartridge are aligned in the same orientation, and
• ensure filter retainer is securely connected on both sides of cartridge.
• When installing filters/cartridges onto facepiece ensure they click securely into place.
• Do not alter, misuse, or abuse this respirator.
Unpacking
Inspect the package contents for shipping damage and ensure all components are present (Refer to Fig. 24). The product
should be inspected before each use following the procedures in the "Inspection" section of this User Instruction.
Assembly & Removal
Cartridge/Filter Assembly & Removal
1.
Align the port end of the cartridges or filters with the ports on the facepiece (Fig. 1).
2. Push the cartridge/filter into the connector until you hear a click and the blue cartridge/filter release button raises back
to its initial position (Fig. 2).
3. If the cartridge/filter does not "click" into place when inserted it may be due to the angle of insertion. Lift up slightly on
the cartridge/filter until the cartridge/filter clicks into place (Fig. 3).
4. Ensure you connect a cartridge or filter to each side of the facepiece.
5. To remove the cartridge/filter depress and hold the blue cartridge/filter release button and simultaneously pull outward
on the cartridge/filter (Fig. 4).
D7N11 & D7P71 Filter Assembly & Removal
1.
Orient one filter in the larger half of the filter retainer so the shape of the filter aligns with the shape of the filter retainer.
Ensure the printed side of the filter is facing down (Fig. 5). Note: The larger half of the filter retainer does NOT have the
cutout end, while the smaller half has a cutout end so it fits around the cartridge connection.
2. Align the larger half of the retainer with the back (flat side) of the cartridge. Using both hands, press the retainer onto the
cartridge, ensuring you press on all four corners of the cartridge/filter retainer (Fig. 6). The filter retainer has touchpoint
indicators on each corner. You should hear the retainer click into place.
3. Orient a filter in the other half of the filter retainer so the shape of the filter aligns with the shape of the filter retainer and
the printed side of the filter faces down (Fig. 7). Wrap the opposite end of the retainer around the cartridge and secure
by pressing down on all four corners of the cartridge/filter retainer (Fig. 8).
4. Ensure all sides of the filter retainer are fully engaged with the cartridge.
Note: The print on the filters should be visible when correctly attached to the cartridge. If filter print is not visible,
remove the retainer and flip the filters so the printed side of filters is facing outward.
5. To remove the retainer pull upward on the retainer tabs until the retainer releases from the cartridge.
Note: Assemble cartridges and D7N11 or D7P71 filters to the facepiece according to the Cartridge/Filter Assembly &
Removal procedure in these User Instructions.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to follow these instructions may reduce respirator performance, expose you to contaminants above the OEL, and may
result in sickness or death.
To help maintain a good seal between the face and the faceseal, the respirator faceseal must be clear of obstructions at
all times. Do not use with beards or facial hair that prevent direct contact between the face and the respirator faceseal.
Do not use with corrective eyeglasses. If corrective eyeglasses are required, a 3M™ Spectacle Kit must be used inside
the respirator.
These instructions MUST be followed each time respirator is worn.
Donning Respirator
NOTE: Two key factors in effective donning are placing the nose in the nose cup initially to center the respirator on the face
and to tighten the straps twice following steps 4, 5, 6, first to snug the respirator then repeating steps 4, 5, 6 a second time
to secure the facepiece seal. Care must be taken to not over tighten bottom straps on the first turn.
1.
Fully loosen all six headstraps.
2. Hold the front of the facepiece with one hand and the straps/comfort cradle away from the facepiece with the other
