1 Turn FUNCTION to select the MD function and
insert an MD.
2 Select the group mode and select the group to

be divided.
3 Press MD EDIT/REC (or hold down SHIFT and
press MD EDIT on the remote control) to display
"DivideGp X?" (X is the group number).
4 Within 8 seconds, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(or ENTER/ILLUMI on the remote control).
5 Select the point to be divided with f or g,
or VOLUME/MULTI JOG.
For example, select track 5 to divide the group at the point
between track 4 and 5.
6 Within 8 seconds, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(ENTER/ILLUMI).
7 Remove the MD.
"WRITING" is displayed and the data concerning the
contents of the editing are registered.

Combining two tracks
You can combine two tracks by erasing the index mark in
between.
1 Turn FUNCTION to select the MD function and
insert an MD.
2 Select or play the latter track of the two tracks to
be combined.
For example, to combine the 2nd and 3rd tracks, select or
play the 3rd track.
3 Press MD EDIT/REC (or hold down SHIFT and
press MD EDIT on the remote control) to display
"Combine ?".
4 Within 8 seconds, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(or ENTER/ILLUMI on the remote control).
A confirmation display such as "2 + 3" (when combining
the 2nd and 3rd tracks) appears.
5 Within 1 minute, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(ENTER/ILLUMI).
The two tracks are combined.
The track numbers from this point forward are decreased
by 1.
6 Remove the MD.
"WRITING" is displayed and the data concerning the
contents of the editing are registered.
NOTES
•If both of the tracks are titled, the title of the lower numbered
track remains. If only one track is titled on the tracks to be
combined, this title remains.
•If two tracks belonging to different groups (two consecutive
groups) are combined, the combined track will belong to
the lower numbered group.
•You cannot combine tracks recorded in different modes
(standard stereo, LP2, LP4 and monaural).

You can combine two groups.

2 Select the group mode.
3 Select the latter group of the two groups to be
combined.
For example, to combine the 2nd and 3rd groups, select
the 3rd group.
4 Press MD EDIT/REC (or hold down SHIFT and
press MD EDIT on the remote control) to display
"Combine ?".
5 Within 8 seconds, press GROUP DIRECT (or
GROUP (DIRECT) on the remote control) to
display "Combine GP?".
6 Within 8 seconds, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(or ENTER/ILLUMI on the remote control).
A confirmation display such as "GP 2 + 3" (when
combining the 2nd and 3rd groups) appears.
7 Within 1 minute, press ENTER/ILLUMINATION
(ENTER/ILLUMI).
The two groups are combined.
The group numbers from this point forward are decreased
by 1.
8 Remove the MD.
"WRITING" is displayed and the data concerning the
contents of the editing are registered.
