OPERATION
Since the refrigeration unit is pressure equipment submitted to PED, it is integrated into a functional assembly which itself must meet
the essential requirements of the PED.
In this purpose, the design of the machine meets this requirements applying EN 378 standards from 1 to 4 by:
design of the equipment
recommendations available in this manual
7.1
GENERAL INFORMATION
The machine is equipped with a HP safety pressure switch (PSH) per compression stage which must be acknowledged manually for restart
after default.
An electrical shunt is meant for that inside the electrical box, ensuring two possible resetting modes: manual or automatic.
All HP or LP parts containing equipment greater than PED category I are equipped with dual safety pressure relief valves.
This arrangement is valid only if the shut-off valves used in the functional equipment are type "blocked".
Otherwise the installer must review its risk analysis and take any action to ensure the conformity of its installation.
The machine is supplied with the pressure relief valve connections sealed and the valves separated for some parts of the machine
(receiver). These items must be installed before starting the machine.
7.2
SAFETY VALVES PED category IV
120 Bar for the discharge line
45 Bar for liquid receivers
30 Bar for the suction accumulator (optional on the suction side of the low temperature rack)
(pressure relief valves settings can differ for different design pressure levels: 52, 60, 80 Bar)
It is the responsibility of the installer to plan any additional safety valves needed to protect the rest of the installation, especially for
the suction lines downstream the consumers for any design pressure lower than 80 bar.

SPECIAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Dispositions to be taken in the event that the following equipments are equipped with "blocked" shut-off valves for maintenance.
7.3.1
Filter Driers: Voluntary shut-off of blocked shut-off valves for maintenance operation or long shut down.
Filter-Drier: Any voluntary or unintentional closure of the blocked valves does not cause the immediate stop of the pressure generator
by the low or high pressure switches.
Path to follow:
Close the upstream / downstream valves, the AKV injection shut-off valve and open the bypass simultaneously
Remove the charge of refrigerant of the part of piping just considered via the dedicated valve of this part of circuit.
Open the filter housing.
Remove the old cartridge with its seals, clean the internal part of the body.
Heat the body to avoid trapping moisture inside the body.
Put a new cartridge with its seals and close the body.
Vaccum this part of the circuit.
Open the upstream / downstream valves and close the bypass if any.
7.3.2
Coalescent oil separator: Voluntary shut-off of blocked shut-off valves for maintenance operation or long
shut-down.
Oil separator: blocked valves are available to isolate the oil separator. A by-pass can also be delivered (optional). Any voluntary or
unintentional closure of those valves will the immediate stop of the pressure generator by the high pressure switches.
The oil separator can be totally isolated upstream by the service valves and bypassed by another valve (optional).
It is recommended to operate the service and bypass valves regularly, especially in the case of a maintenance operation, several times
to ensure that they are sealed.
HOWEVER, EVEN IF A BY-PASS VALVE IS INSTALLED, IT IS NECESSARY TO STOP THE INSTALLATION TO
WORK ON THE OIL SEPARATOR.
