2.2.13.2 Chiller at the main stage (MT)
The transcritical rack can be connected to a brine heat exchanger to provide cooling using a brine loop. In that specific case, a heat
exchanger and a stepper motor expansion valve controlling the superheat are supplied mounted on the main frame or delivered separate.
It is important to consider that the inertia of the brine loop can generate long standstill periods with compressors off and thus result
in system pressure increase. It is then recommended to have the unit selected with higher service pressure levels (example: 60 or 80
bar as receiver design pressure) to avoid any risk of pressure relief valve blow-off during standstill.
An electronic flow
controller must be mounted on the brine loop (not supplied by PROFROID).
The below schematics shows the example of a chiller function for a brine loop.
