5. Move the cutting assembly downward to the
lower stop position by pressing push-button
"DOWN (AB)" and then set mode select switch
(no. 7 - ill. 5) to position "2" before closing the
cover of the machine housing.
6. Put the marked workpiece against the guide
border of the workpiece support and slide it into
the feed opening so that the marking is in align-
ment with the "0" position (ill. 14) corresponding
to the line projection of the laser. Then, clamp
the workpiece by means of clamping device
(no. 26 - ill. 14) and position the two slides
(no. 24 and 25) close to the workpiece.
7. Press start push-button (no. 8 - ill. 5). The cutter
head is cutting automatically the set tenon shape
-final trimming and shouldering. The tenon will
be chamfered at the same time.
3.7 Cutting of vertical tenons
The design of the machine also allows to cut verti-
cal tenons (see ill. 17). Note, that for this cutting
process the workpiece height must not exceed 160
mm (6
1
/
in.). This tenon shape also requires pointer
4
(no. 13 - ill. 9) to indicate the value "0" on scale
(no. 14) of the segment for rotating.
To set the tenon dimension and to start cutting,
proceed as follows:
1. Set mode select switch (no. 7 - ill. 5) to position
"1" and open the cover of the machine housing.
2. Check or set length of tenon "t" (see ill. 6) on
the cutting tool (see section 4.1 tool change).
3. Move the cutting assembly to starting position
by pressing push-button "DOWN (AB)" and
"BACK-WARD (ZURÜCK)" (no. 10 - ill. 5).
4. To ensure that the tenon is cut over the entire
workpiece height, move clamping ring (no. 19 -
ill. 11) so that the pointer of the clamping ring
indicates the workpiece height on scale (no. 20).
5. Move the cutting assembly upward by pressing
push-button "UP (AUF)" until spiral tensioning
pin (no. 16 - ill. 10) does not have contact any-
more. To ensure that the tenon starts at the
lower workpiece surface, release clamping lever
(no. 15) and move setting disk (no. 17) until the
value "0" is marked on scale (no. 18). Then,
tighten clamping lever (no. 15) again.
6. Turn hand wheel (no. 11 - ill. 8) to set the di-
mension "s" (see ill. 17) according to scale
(no. 12) on the edge of the housing.
7. Set the horizontal travel distance of the cutting
assembly by turning hand wheel (no. 21 - ill. 12)
so that the right-hand edge of stop (no. 22 - ill.
13) indicates the tenon width "d" + dimension
"s" (see ill. 17) on scale (no. 23). Example: re-
quired tenon width 4 cm and edge distance 8
cm adds up in the dimension of 12 to be set.
8. Carry out steps 8 to 11 described in section 3.4.
3.8 Cutting of lap joints
The workpiece has to be cut at the exact angle and
to the exact length. When cutting lap joints (see
ill. 7), the travel distance of the cutting assembly is
limited to the horizontal motion required for this
process which is saving time.
To set the lap joint dimension and to start cutting,
proceed as follows:
1. Check whether pointer (no. 13 - ill. 9) indicates
the value "0" on scale (no. 14) of the segment
for rotating. If this is not the case, readjust the
position of the segment for rotating after having
loosened handle lever (no. 15).
2. Set mode select switch (no. 7 - ill. 5) to position
"1" and open the cover of the machine housing.
3. Remove cutter ring (no. 38 - ill. 18)
(see section 4.1).
4. Move cutting assembly to starting position by
pressing push-button "DOWN (AB)" and "BACK-
WARD (ZURÜCK)" (no. 10 - ill. 5).
5. Move the cutting assembly upward by pressing
push-button "UP (AUF)" until spiral tensioning
pin (no. 16 - ill. 10) does not have contact any-
more. Then release clamping lever (no. 15) and
move setting disk (no. 17) until the requested
