The measurement of the sound power level was conducted according to EN ISO 3746 with the following
variations:
– the correcting factor for the extraneous noise is 4 dB max.,
– at each measuring point the difference between the sound pressure level of the extraneous noise and the
sound pressure level at the machine exceeds 6 dB,
– the distance between the enveloping surface of the machine and the measuring surface is 1 m (39
– 9 measuring points,
– the measuring period corresponds to one operating cycle.
The measurement of the workplace-related emission value was conducted according to EN ISO 11202 with
the following variations:
– the correcting factor for the extraneous noise on the measuring surface as well as at the workplace is
4 dB max.,
– the difference between the sound pressure level of the extraneous noise and the sound pressure level at
the workplace exceeds 6 dB,
– the determination of the correcting factor at the workplace was based on appendix 2 of EN ISO 11204.

The stated values are emission levels and do not necessarily represent levels for safe working. Although
there is a link between the emitted values and the ambient values to which users are subjected, the emitted
values are not a conclusive indicator of whether additional safety measures are necessary. The factors in-
fluencing the actual level of ambient noise present at the workplace include the duration of exposure, the
spatial characteristic, other noise sources etc., such as the number of machines and whether other machin-
ing operations are going on in the vicinity. In addition, the permitted ambient noise level may vary from
country to country. Nevertheless, this information provides the machine user with a suitable means of better
assessing the hazard and the risk.
