– Touching the running cutting tool through the
opening provided for the feeding of the workpiece.
– Touching the tool cutting edges during tool change.
– Breakage of the tool and risk of pieces being
hurled away through the opening provided for the
feeding of the workpiece.
– Hurling away of workpiece splinters if the slide at
the feed opening has not been adjusted correctly
to the workpiece dimensions.
– Touching live parts with the switch box open and
main switch on or the mains plug not removed.
– Hearing can be impaired when working for long
periods without ear protectors.
– Emission of hazardous wood dust when working
for long periods in enclosed premises without
adequate ventilation.

1.10 Safety instructions

If used incorrectly, woodworking machi-
nes can be dangerous. For this reason,
always comply with the safety instruc-
tions summarized in this section, the accident pre-
vention regulations of the relevant liability insuran-
ce association or equivalent, and the safety regula-
tions applicable in the country concerned!
General instructions
– Prior to all work make sure that the safety equip-
ment functions correctly and do not make any
modifications to the machine that could under-
mine safety.
– Children and young persons must not operate
this machine. This rule does not apply to young
persons over the age of 16 years receiving train-
ing and being supervised by an expert.
– Only rubber-insulated extension cables (e. g. HO7
RN-F) with a cross section of at least 5 x 2.5 mm²
must be used when working outdoors and do not
pull the cable over any sharp edges.
– Always be aware of environmental influences. Do
not allow the machine to be exposed to the rain
and do not use the machine in a damp or wet
environment, or in the vicinity of inflammable
liquids or gases.
– When operating the machine outdoors, use of an
earth-leakage circuit-breaker is recommended.
– Before tool changes and eliminating malfunc-
tions, switch off the main switch.
– Only use the cutting tool included in the delivery
specification and make sure not to use any blunt
tools.
– When the machine is not in use for a long time,
the main switch can be locked to prevent the
machine from being inadvertently switched on by
means of a padlock.
Instructions as to the use of personal safety
equipment
– Always wear close-fitting industrial clothing and
remove rings, bracelets and watches.
– When operating the tenon cutting machine and
when changing the tool, always wear suitable
gloves.
– In order to avoid damages to the eyes, always
wear an eye shield (safety glasses) or a face
screen when operating the machine.
– The sound pressure level at the workplace gener-
ally exceeds 85 dB (A). Users should therefore
wear ear protectors.
Instructions as to operation
– The electrical cable has to be lead away from the
machine and installed in such a way to avoid risk
of stumbling at the operating place.
– Provide an uncluttered, anti-slip location with
adequate illumination.
– Make sure that no other persons, especially chil-
dren, are staying within the operating range.
– Whenever possible, secure the workpiece against
slipping or falling down by clamping it with the
clamping device provided for this purpose.
– Switch the machine on only when a workpiece is
in the position ready for cutting.
– Position the slides at the feed opening for the
workpiece close to the workpiece surfaces.
– Examine the workpiece for foreign objects. Never
attempt to cut nails or other metal objects in
order to avoid damages to the sensitive carbide
cutting edges.
