11.2 Calibrating the EC probe
11.2.1 Calibration interval
11.2.2 Calibration solution

Calibrate the probe before the first meas-
•
urement.
The calibration interval is subsequently oriented
on the characteristics of the test samples:
< 100 µS/cm: Weekly
•
Mean measurement range: Monthly
•
High temperatures: Weekly
•
CAUTION!
Never wipe the probe dry. That could cause the
probe to become electrostatically charged,
which can lead to erroneous measurement and
calibration readings.
NOTE!
Do not reuse the calibration solution once it has
been used. Any contamination could impair the
calibration and measurement accuracy as a re-
sult.
Select the calibration solution that as closely
•
as possible approximates the measurement
range of your usual test samples.
The calibration value should be at approx. 2/3 of
the measurement range.
NOTE!
When measuring heating water with a low salt
content (> 10 µS/cm to ≤ 100 µS/cm) it is rec-
ommended to use a calibration solution of
84 µS/cm.
When measuring saline heating water
(> 100 µS/cm to ≤ 1500 µS/cm) it is
recommended to use a calibration solution of
1413 µS/cm.
It is only necessary to run one single point cali-
bration of the EC probe. Up-to-date calibration
data replaces previous calibration data. Calibra-
