2. Operational start up
2.1 Preparing the coffee machine
• Carefully remove the appliance and all the accessory parts from the packaging.

Please note: If a service is necessary, you can return the appliance by mail in
its original packaging without any problems. You should therefore save the
original packaging material in a convenient place.
• Remove the water tank (14) and rinse it with cold clear tap water.
• T hen fill the tank to the maximum mark and place it into the coffee machine. Please
ensure that it clicks into place well when inserting.

Use only clear cold water when filling the tank, and never use carbonated
water or other liquids.
• Open the cover to the bean holder (15) and fill it with coffee beans.

Do not use any coffee beans that have been treated with additives such as
sugar when being roasted. These could lead to damage to the mill, and the
repair costs arising from this are not covered by the guarantee.
2.2 Major operating elements
Rotel fully-automatic coffee machines are characterised by their simple operation. The
three operating elements and their basic functions are identical at each level:
• Control button (2):
– Y ou can move from one point to another in the current menu or change the set
value by turning the knob.
– Confirm the set value by pressing the button.
• «>» button (3):
– By pressing the > button, you will jump to the next point in the current menu.
• Exit button (4):
– B y pressing the Exit button, you will leave the current menu and jump back one
level.
– W hile the appliance is preparing a drink, you can cancel the process using the Exit
button.
2.3 First operational start up
• Pull the power plug out of the power cord channel (13) and plug it in.
• S witch the appliance into the Stand-by mode with the main power switch (7), and
then into the Ready mode with the On/Off button (9).
The «First Start» menu appears in the display (otherwise see the information on "Filling
the system"). Please adapt the following basic settings before you prepare the first cup
of coffee:
