DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
Fitted with a separate wire feed unit the FLEX 330S /
400S /500S are powerful and versatile welding
machines which can be used for both MIG/MAG
welding and MMA electrode welding. The wire feed
speed and voltage are infinitely variable from the
wire feed unit, either MWF 11 or MWF 21. These
wire feed units can be fitted with different control kits
by request (please see the MWF 11/21 instruction
manual).
Power source
The power source is based on the latest inverter
technology and developed in order to offer a flexible
solution which can meet your future needs.
The power source is air cooled and has a fan which
automatically switches between two rates of speed.
The fan stops completely when the welding machine
is not used, i.e. around 4 minutes after welding
stops, and also when the temperature in the power
source is sufficiently low. Torch water cooling stops
likewise when the machine is not used.
Wire feed unit
(MWF 11 – 21)
Please see separate instruction manual MWF 11/21.
Torch cooling unit
The cooling unit consists of a water tank, a water-
cooling system, a water pump and a flow control.
The flow control reports error in the event of
insufficient or total lack of cooling water. The water
pump stops when there is a fault in the water cooling
system. The pump is restarted by stopping and
starting the machine. In case of problems when
starting up, the drain plug (11) should be opened.
Close the drain plug when the system has been
drained.
Warning
Connection to generators can damage the welding
machine.
When connected to a welding machine, generators
can produce large voltage pulses, which can
damage the welding machine. Use only frequency
and voltage stable generators of the asynchronous
type.
Defects on the welding machine arisen due to
connection of a generator are not included in the
guarantee.
Dispose of the product according to
local standards and regulations.

INITIAL OPERATION
Lift instructions
Mains connection
The power source must be connected to a three-
phase mains supply and it is important to ensure that
the mains supply voltage is in accordance with the
voltage to which the power source is built. The safety
conductor (earth) is yellow/green.
The power source is equipped with a thermal cut-out
protecting against overload of the power source and
any exceeding of the max. current rating of the
mains cable.
It is possible to select the mains fuse so the mains
cable is only protected against short circuits. The
protection indicated on the type plate of the power
source will provide protection against both current
overload and short circuits.
Configuration
MIGATRONIC
disclaims
damaged cables and other damages related to
welding with under sized welding torch and welding
cables measured by welding specifications e.g. in
relation to permissible load.
How to connect the gas
The gas hose, which is connected to the rear of the
power source, should be connected to a stable gas
supply.
Diffusion-free gas hoses
This welding machine has been mounted with a PVC
gas hose, which is sufficient for general welding
tasks. We recommend that the machine is equipped
with diffusion-free gas hoses in these special cases
where large demands have been made on gas
purity. Diffusion sealed gas hoses result in less
moisture to the protection gas. These special gas
hoses can be ordered as special equipment and
should be mounted on the supply side out to the
solenoid valve.
Fitting of the return cable
The return cable should be connected to the
negative outlet on the front of the power source.
Note: the positive outlet on the front of the power
source is not used when the machine is used for the
MIG/MAG welding process.
