3.2.2 Inverter
The inverter converts the DC voltage coming from the rectifier or DC battery into AC voltage,
stabilised in amplitude and frequency.
The inverter is built with a 3-level conversion bridge and IGBT technology, so that it operates at
a high switching frequency of approximately 7.5 kHz.
The control electronics use a state-of-the-art 32-bit DSP which, thanks to its processing power,
allows a perfect output sine wave to be generated.
In addition, the fully digitalised output sine wave control allows high performance to be
achieved, including very low voltage distortion even with highly distorting loads.
3.2.3 Battery and Battery Charger
The battery is installed externally and normally located inside a cabinet.
The battery charger logic is integrated within the control electronics of the rectifier.
The battery undergoes a charging cycle, in accordance with DIN41773, every time a partial or
total discharge occurs. When full capacity is restored, it is disconnected from the DC bus by
means of a static SCR switch to save energy and reduce stress due to AC ripple, all in order to
increase the expected life. This mode of operation is called Green Conversion.
It is still periodically charged, but the prevailing state is complete rest.

IOBM MODULE DESCRIPTION
The IOBM module consists of the emergency static (Bypass), the circuit breakers for the
management of the entire system and external interfacing to the system:
SBCBS
OSBCBS if present
OCBS
MBCBS
3.3.1 Static Bypass
Static Bypass allows the load to be switched between the PU module inverters and the
Emergency Line, and vice versa, in a very short time, and uses SCRs as power switching
elements.
3.3.2 Manual bypass
The MBCBS manual bypass is used to completely disconnect the UPS in the event of
maintenance or disruption, while allowing the load to be powered directly from the input mains.
Follow the procedures in the manual
The manual bypass and return manoeuvre must be carried out in accordance with
the procedure described in the installation and start-up section. No liability is
accepted for damage resulting from incorrect operation.
