2. DIRECTIONS FOR USE
5. Auto Prime:
There are two prime settings:
AUTO PRIM ON or AUTO PRIM OFF (Figure
2-33). Pump default is AUTO PRIM OFF.
The auto prime feature allows the
user to automatically prime the
tubing set. To enable the auto prime
feature, set to AUTO PRIM ON.
To operate the pump with AUTO PRIM ON:
1. Ensure tubing is disconnected
from the patient.
2. Press and hold the PRIME key for 1.5 seconds.
3. Alarm will sound once and the pump
will begin priming the set at an
approximate rate of 700ml/hr.
4. Display will read TO STOP PUSH PRIM
(Figure 2-34).
5. Once auto priming is
completed, pump will stop and an alarm will sound.
6. Display will revert to the last programmed rate, and pump will be in pause mode.
To remove any remaining air in tubing, the user must run auto prime
and stop auto prime when formula reaches the end of the set.
1. To start auto prime again, press and hold the PRIME key for 1.5 seconds.
2. Alarm will sound once, and pump will reinitiate auto prime.
3. Display will read TO STOP PUSH PRIM (Figure 2-34).
4. When the formula reaches the end of the tubing, press
the PRIME button again to stop the pump.
NOTES:
4 To stop or pause priming once the priming is initiated, press the PRIME key. If the
auto prime is paused or interrupted, the next auto prime will start over, meaning it
will always deliver the same amount of formula during each auto prime segment.
4 When auto prime is enabled it will be the only priming feature
available on the pump. To use the hold to prime only option,
select AUTO PRIM OFF in the User Preference settings.
