1.Safety advice
Electrical Chain Hoist = ECH Electrical Chain Hoist with Trolley = ECHWT
Lifting or handling equipment has to be inspected by a specialist or trained person before starting operation
All maintenance operation has be done by a specialist or trained person
Disconnecte the hoist from the supply when maintenance operation are carried out
Electrical chain hoist are designed for lifting and lowering materials vertically, every other mode of use is prohibited
The trolley is designed to move the load horizontally when vertical movement of the load is stopped, every other mode of use is prohibi-
ted
Do not operate unless the load is centred under the hoist.
Protect the hoists load chain from weld splatter or other damaging contaminants.
If the operating manual is not strictly respected the risk is under the responsibility of the user
If any special mode of use or special environment please ask in advance the manufacturer
The operating instruction manual should be easily found; An extra copy can be sent on request.
Specialist or trained people : It is a person who have the theoretical knowledge and who had a training for the handling and lifting
maintenance activities. This person should have a very good know how of the special handling and lifting regulations and be sure
that the equipment is working in a safe condition.
Before any electrical connection of the equipment check that the main electrical installation is designed and protected in accordan-
ce with safety regulations.
Do not operate the hoist when it is restricted from forming a straight line from hook to hook (or lug to hook) in the direction of loa-
ding.
Do not use the load chain as a sling.
Do not apply the load to the tip of the hook or to the hook latch.
Never operate a hoist unless load slings or any other approved attachments are properly sized and
seated in the hook saddle.
Do not apply load unless load chain is properly seated in the chain wheel(s) or sprocket(s).
Do not operate beyond the limits of the load chain travel.
Do not allow the load chain or hook to be touched by a live welding electrode or be used as a
GB
electrical or welding ground.
Do not use the hoist for lifting loads that are not freely suspended or loads that are guided.
Do not wrap the load chain around a load.
Do not use the hoist upside down
Never suspend the hoist by its load chain hook or its electrical cables.
Never start up the operation without ensuring that all the safety devices on the hoist are in place and operating correctly. Checks
must be made to ensure that the limit switches are in the required locations to stop the hoist automatically in total safety.
Never connect the hoist without checking that the main electrical installation is accordance with a relevant safety regulation
Never drag a load on the floor
Never force the hoist movements if the load chain cannot operate freely
Never mount a load on the dead end chain
Transport of hot or molten material may require additional equipment or devices; refer to relevant norm
Never intentionally cause or leave a suspended load to swing
Never remove or modify the hooks latches
Never remove the electrical limit switches
Never force the hoist suspension hook or lug to make hoist rotate on its axis
Never touch moving parts in operation
Never move a hoist suspended from a chain travelling trolley other than operating the hand chain provided for that purpose.
2. Prohibitions on use
Tearing off loads
Pulling loads which are tilted
Removing load under vacuum effect
Moving load heavier than the W.L.L
Moving the trolley by pulling the pendant control box or by the cable of the pendant control.
Carrying people with the hoist is strictly prohibited
Carrying maintenance operation without disconnecting the hoist from his electrical supply is strictly prohibited
Carrying maintenance operation when the hoist is loaded is strictly prohibited
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or ECHWT with people being under the load
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or ECHWT when it is under maintenance operation
Using the chain of the Electrical Chain Hoist or ECHWT to sling the load
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT when the chain is twisted, kinked, damaged, or worn.
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT before reading and understanding the complete operating instruction manual
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT with higher duty factor as than marked on the hoist specification plate
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT if the regular inspection has not be done
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT if it is not in accordance with the national law of the country where it is used
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT if you do not have the right power electrical supply
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT in explosive atmosphere
Using the electrical chain hoist or the ECHWT if the electrical protection is not in accordance with local regulation
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT with or without trolley if the equipment is not in perfect working condition.
Using the Electrical Chain Hoist or the ECHWT which has been modified.
