GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
GB
GENERAL OPERATING INSTRUC-
TIONS
Ensure that anyone who operates this machine
reads and fully understands the instructions in this
manual. All rotary grass cutters are potentially
dangerous. No person should be allowed to
operate or maintain this machine who is not fully
acquainted with all controls and safety proce-
dures.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Before starting the engine, check that the parking
brake is on, foot is off the Forward/Reverse pedal
and that the PTO's are switched off. Check to be
sure all guards and shields are intact and in
position, and that all parts are in good working
order. Pay particular attention to the security of
the blades, tires, steering and brakes.
DRIVING THE MACHINE
– Obey local traffic laws and be careful when
operating on or near roadways.
– Do not transport with the cutting mechanism
rotating.
– Remove or avoid obstructions in the area to be
cut to reduce the possibility of causing injury to
yourself or others.
– Do not stop suddenly with the cutter decks in
the raised position.
– Slow down before turning.
– Use extra care when loading or unloading
machine to a trailer or truck.
– Never run machine in an enclosed area.
LEAVING THE OPERATORS POSITION
– Park the machine on level ground. Disengage
the PTO, set the parking brake and shut off the
engine.
– Remove the ignition key.
OPERATING ON SLOPES
USE EXTRA CARE WHEN WORKING ON
SLOPES
– With ride-on machines, always move up and
down slopes, not across.

OPERATORS MANUAL
– Never attempt any maneuvers on a slope with
any of the cutter decks in the raised position.
– Be alert to dips and rises which change the
general slope. Watch for holes, rocks and
roots in the terrain and other hidden hazards.
Keep away from drop offs. Avoid ground
conditions which will cause the machine to
slide.
– If the operator is uncomfortable or unsure of
the machines stability, operation on these
slopes should cease immediately.
– On uneven, loose or wet ground, the angles
should be reduced. Only smooth maneuvers
(not erratic) should be made to help maintain
stability. Experienced operators may be able
to operate the machine safely on greater slope
angles. The ultimate responsibility for safe
operation on slopes rests with the operator.
– Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches or em-
bankments. Do not mow in wet conditions.
– Do not start or stop suddenly when going up
hill or downhill.
– Never place your foot on the ground while
operating machine.
– Use lower speeds and exercise extreme
caution on slopes and especially in sharp turns
to prevent tipping and loss of control. Use
extra caution when changing direction on
slopes.
– Keep even foot pressure on pedal when
proceeding forward downhill.
– Do not use grass catchers or other large
attachments on slopes.
PLUGGED OR OBSTRUCTED DECK
– Stop the engine, disengage the PTO's and set
the parking brake. Wait for the blades to stop
rotating before attempting to remove the
material plugging the cutter deck.
– Remove obstructions with care. Keep all parts
of the body away from the cutting edges of the
blades. Keep other persons away from the
cutter deck.
– Rotation of one blade will cause the others to
rotate.
– Do not dismantle the machine without releasing
or restraining forces which can cause parts to
move suddenly.
– Stop engine before removing grass catcher or
unclogging discharge chute.
