GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

This cutting machine is capable of amputating
hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure
to follow these safety and operating instruc-
tions could result in serious injury or death.
1. Know the controls and how to stop quickly.
Read this Operators Manual and instructions
furnished with attachments.
2. Before starting operation, clear the entire
grass area of all debris that might catch on, or
be picked up and thrown by the mower.
3. Unless there is very good artificial light, mow
only during daylight.
4. Be certain the machine and attachments are
in good operating condition. Keep all shields
and safety devices in place and in working
condition.
5. Keep all fasteners tight to be sure the equip-
ment is in good working condition.
6. Assure all safety switches are adjusted
correctly so engine cannot be started unless:
– Forward/Reverse pedal is in neutral.
– PTO switches are switched off.
7. Do not start engine and cutter blades until
ready to start mowing. Turn off blades when
not mowing.
8. Whenever leaving the machine:
– Disengage PTO.
– Shut off the engine and remove key.
– Set parking brake.
9. If an object is struck, stop and shut off the
engine. Wait for cutter blades to stop rotat-
ing. Check for damage and replace any
damaged parts before continuing.
10. Do not pass or stand on the grass discharge
side of any mower with the engine running.
Never direct the discharge towards any
bystanders. Stop operation if someone
approaches.
11. Do not carry passengers.
12. Never raise the mower deck with the blades
operating.
13. Use safety latch when working under or
around raised deck.
14. Disengage power to mower before backing
up. Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely
necessary and then only after observation of
the entire area behind the mower.

15. Do not operate mower unless discharge chute
is in lowered position or if mulcher insert or
entire grass catcher is in place. Be aware of
discharge direction.
16. Do not operate machine while under the
influence of drugs or alcohol.
17. When operating this machine, wear proper
protective clothing such as, but not limited to,
protection for the eyes, ears, feet, hands and
head.
CHILDREN
– Keep children out of the mowing area and
under the watchful care of another responsible
adult.
– Be alert and turn machine off if children enter
area.
– Before and when backing, look behind and
down for small children.
– Never carry children. They may fall off and be
seriously injured or interfere with safe opera-
tion.
– Never allow children to operate the machine.
– Use extra care when approaching blind
corners, shrubs, trees or other objects that
may obscure vision.
FUEL
– Use extra care in handling gasoline and other
fuels. They are flammable and vapors are
explosive.
– Use only an approved container.
– Never remove fuel cap or add fuel with the
engine running. Allow engine to cool before
refueling. Do not smoke.
– Never refuel the machine indoors.
– Never store the machine or fuel container
inside where there is an open flame, such as in
a water heater.
