ADAPTIVE FUNCTION

The AdaptiveFunction makes it possible to adapt the chiller/heat
pump's operating parameters to the load conditions of the system in
which it is installed, optimising consumption, efficiency and the useful
life span of the components.
Operating logic
The control manages the operating/shutdown cycles of the compressor,
adjusting them to the characteristics of the system, taking into account
the thermal inertia of the hydraulic circuit and preventing the
compressor from dangerous rapid-sequence start-ups.

 The control acts partly as a water buffer tank simulator. In fact, by
monitoring the dynamics of the system, it makes it possible to decrease
the number of hourly starts of the compressor, extending its actual
operating time.
 In particular, in low-load conditions when the water temperature
decreases (chiller) or increases (heat pump) very rapidly, the algorithm
delays compressor shutdown, replacing the thermal inertia that would
be created by the water buffer tank.

SIMPLE SYSTEM
The user only needs to establish the desired set point, since the other
parameters are adapted to the system by the algorithm.
NO TANK
The Adaptive Function of a water buffer tank ensures long-lasting
reliability of machines without a tank or in any case making it possible to
use tanks of reduced sizes, with clear advantages in terms of the size of
the machine.
LESS l/kW IN THE SYSTEM
The Adaptive Function makes it possible to reduce the l/kW of the
system, while at the same time ensuring compressor safety and long-
lasting reliability of the machine. Generally speaking, at least 10 l/kW
are required in a system equipped with a chilling machine without
adaptive control, and only 4 l/kW in a system equipped with a chilling
machine with adaptive control. It is thus clear that in process
applications that require control of water temperature, it is always
preferable to use a water buffer tank in order to have a greater amount
of water in the system, which in turn ensures good thermal inertia of the
system even with the machine off (see graphs System Comparison).
REDUCED CONSUMPTION
The Adaptive Function allows a reduction in the number of machine
start-ups with clear advantages in terms of electricity consumption.

The graphs of system comparison refer to three different system
applications. The first one considers a system with no adaptive control
and no tank. The second is for a system with adaptive control and no
tank. The third is for a system with adaptive control and tank.
Notice that between the first and second system there is a decrease in
compressor starts, and that they drop dramatically in the third system,
where there is adaptive control combined with a water buffer tank.
