Installation and Operating Instructions for Tylö Steam Pro
• Make sure there are no sharp bends in the steam pipe.
• Direct the jet of steam away from walls, seats, etc. Leave a free space of at least 70 cm in front of the steam head.
• Make sure there are no water pockets in the steam pipe or ventilation channel where water can accumulate. IMPORTANT!
Nothing may be allowed to block or obstruct the steam pipe (valves, taps, etc.). The internal diameter of the steam pipe must
not be reduced.
• Steam rooms that are in continuous use for more than two hours at a time must be ventilated with 10–20 cubic metres of air
per person per hour.
• Do not disconnect the steam generator from the electric power supply except during service and regular inspection.
• The drainage pipe must slope all the way from the steam generator to the drain.
• The ambient temperature around the steam room and steam generator should not exceed 35°C.
• The sensor should be located as far away as possible from the jet of steam.
• PLEASE NOTE. The steam generator's drainage pipe must always discharge into a drain outside the steam room. The water
is hot!
• Clean the steam room regularly. For details, see under the heading "Cleaning the steam room".
• WARNING! Hot steam is discharged from the steam head. Never leave young children alone in the steam room.
• This equipment is not to be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they are under supervision or have been given information about how to use the equipment
by a person who is responsible for their safety.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not use the equipment as a plaything.

1.1 Examples of ventilation and electrical and plumbing installations

Figure 1.
X = cable from power supply with an isolating power switch for the steam generator installed. In order not to deactivate the
steam generator's automatic emptying and flushing functions (which risks reducing the effective lifetime of the steam
generator), it is important to ensure that the power supply in cable X is not interrupted, except of course when carrying out
service, regular inspections and repairs to the steam generator. Under normal operating conditions the unit should always
be switched on and off via the control panel or another switch, timer, etc. on cable Z, which is for external ON/OFF control.
If the power in cable X is interrupted before the water tank has been automatically emptied and flushed (approx. 15 minutes
after the end of the bathing cycle/OFF), this function is deactivated, the reservoir is not emptied, and the effect of the
resulting deposits of salts and minerals is to reduce the lifetime of the steam generator. If the automatic emptying and
flushing function has previously been deactivated, the steam generator will start to empty and flush the water tank as soon
as the generator is reconnected to the electricity supply.
Y = control cable from optional extra control panel for steam generator.
V = thermistor cable (10kΩ at 25˚C).
W = isolating power switch.
Z = cable to optional external ON/OFF switch
D, G = steam pipe.
E = drainage pipe.
F = incoming water.
G = air inlet.
H = air outlet vent connected to ducting that discharges into the open air.
I = cable for optional lighting.

1.2 Steam room

Apart from the steam generator, there must be no other source of heat in the steam room. The ambient temperature
surrounding the steam room and the steam generator should not exceed 35°C. If a sauna is placed next to a steam room, it
must be well insulated and there must be a gap of at least 10 cm between the external walls of the sauna and those of the
steam room.

1.3 Locating the steam generator

Figures 2, 3.
Installation must be carried out by an authorised electrician/plumber. The steam generator must be permanently connected via
an isolating switch (Figure 1). The steam generator is installed outside the steam room, but as close to it as possible (max.
distance 15 m). See Figure 2.
Place the steam generator in a dry, well-ventilated area with drainage above, below or on the same level as the steam room.
(Never place the steam generator directly above a drain or in an aggressive environment.)
The steam generator must be installed horizontally and at a suitable height above the floor to ensure that the drainage hose
slopes all the way down to the drain. For ease of access when servicing the generator, observe the measurements shown in
Figure 3 when installing the steam generator. Maximum difference in height from the top to the bottom of the steam pipe is 3
metres (Figure 2). The steam generator meets the criteria for IP class 20.

1.4 Thermometer

Place the steam bath thermometer at a height where the temperature shown corresponds exactly to that displayed on the
control panel.
