4.2.3. guide pipes
As guide pipes, we recommend the use of galvanized steel pipes according to DIN EN 10255 or stainless steel
pipes according to DIN EN 10296-2 (tolerances in accordance with EN ISO 1127, Series 1). Depending on the
type of suspension unit, either one or two guide pipes are required. This does not affect installation.

Suspension units may not be used without guide pipes. otherwise, the pump will slip off the coupling
base. this causes the connection between the coupling flange and base to leak and the pump may be
damaged. to prevent this, the use of guide pipes is mandatory.
4.3.

Position

Together, the coupling base, guide pipe bracket and guide pipes form the suspension unit. This is installed in
the operating area and connected to the discharge-side pipe system.
the connected pipe system must be self-supporting. this means it must not be supported by the
coupling base.
The coupling flange is mounted on the discharge flange of the pump. It has guide claws to guide it along the
guide pipe so that the pump can be connected to the coupling base.
The coupling flange is automatically connected to the coupling base by the weight of the pump.
