Recommendations for Grinding
TegraPol-11/ -15
TegraForce-1
Instruction Manual
Do not use TegraForce-1 with specimen mover plates for plane
grinding. Plane grinding is normally unnecessary, and the use of
coarse abrasives can result in unplane specimens.
If, for whatever reason, it is necessary to grind using coarse abrasive
when working with specimen mover plates, the planeness may be
improved by carrying out the following:
Check that the distance between specimen mover plate and
preparation disc is maximum 1 - 1.5 mm.
The height of the specimen should be between 8 – 28mm and
not exceed 0.7 x specimen diameter.
Example: a specimen with a diameter of 30 mm should not be
higher than 30 x 0.7 = 21 mm.
Use a grain size as small as possible.
Use a mounting resin with a wear resistance similar to the
specimens' wear resistance.
Use 150 rpm speed for both the grinding disc and specimen
mover.
(when using lower speeds decrease the speed on both the disc
and the specimen mover).
Use low force.
