PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
In general, Nice Home Security products do not require special maintenance;
however, they should be kept clean, especially the detectors, whose sensors
must be kept clean of dust and other dirt (refer to the respective user manuals) .
Caution – When cleaning the product housings, use a slightly damp cloth and
water only; do not use solvents or detergents .
In general, an alarm system does not report alarms for a long time, and mal-
functions can often go unnoticed .
The control panel, with its HSTS2 touch screen, has a set of maintenance and
system check functions (see the alarm system programming manual supplied
with the touch screen):
• Possibility of checking components in the alarm system by means of the
system "TEST" function . The operation of the system should be checked at
regular intervals .
• The control panel records all events and stores the last 200 events in the
memory . The analysis of the event log can be useful to determine and pos-
sibly prevent the causes of malfunctions .
• The control panel indicates the charge level of a number of associated
devices through the touch screen . All battery powered devices have a func-
tion which monitors the battery charge and, when no more than 15-30 days
worth of charge is left, transmit a "battery low" signal . This occurs both on the
device (see respective instruction manual) and on the control panel, visible on
the touch screen .
Caution – When the battery low status is reported, it is time to change the
battery .
• The mains-powered devices have a rechargeable backup battery (not sup-
plied) which is activated in the event of a power failure . These batteries gen-
erally have a service life of 4-7 years (factors like ambient temperature and
the frequency and intensity of use affect this value) .
Once this period has passed, they must be replaced . Alternatively, one can
run a practical test by disconnecting mains power and seeing how long it
takes for the system to report the battery low status . Replace the battery
when this time is half the normal value or less than the required duration .
Caution! – When the batteries are partially discharged, the radio coverage
between devices is reduced and the system cannot be guaranteed to operate
effectively .

7.1 - Replacing the batteries (control panel and accessories)

When the battery (battery pack or backup battery) of the control panel or the
internal batteries of the accessories are drained, they must be replaced to
restore normal system operation .
Caution! – Never use battery types different from the specified model.
Caution! – To avoid undesired tampering alarms, activate the "Con-
trol panel TEST" mode on the control panel (see HSTS2 touch screen
instruction manual - Alarm system programming) before opening any
device (control panel, sirens, detectors).
To replace the control panel battery proceed as follows:
For models HSCU2GC and HSCU2C (backup battery):
Caution! - For safety reasons, it is advisable to always disconnect mod-
els HSCU2GC and HSCU2C from the mains.
01. Open the housing (fig. 55);
02. Release the battery (fig. 56) and replace it with another of the same type .
Caution! – Make sure to respect the polarity indications;
03. Close the housing (fig. 58) .
and HSCU2W
For models HSCU2GW
