INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Actreen® Hi-Lite
Intermittent Urinary Catheters are indicated for
Cath
intermittent urinary catheterisation by patients with chronic urine
retention or voiding dysfunction.
Actreen® Hi-Lite
is a sterile, pre-lubricated, ready-to-use catheter.

1. PREPARATION:
• Carefully wash hands before and after catheterisation, and clean the area
surrounding the urethral opening.
• Before opening, check the product is intact and make sure the lubricant is
evenly spread over the catheter by touching the catheter over the packaging.
2. PRODUCT OPENING:
For safety and hygienic reasons, we advise you to use the
product in shortest possible time after opening.
Remove the protective film on the connector side:
Grip and tear off the protective film at mark «1».
Remove the protective film on the catheter side:
FOR THE FOLDABLE NO TOUCH TECHNIQUE
• Option 1: Grip and tear off the protective film at mark «A».
• Option 2: Hold the catheter in one hand and with the other
hand insert your thumb in the eyelet at mark «A» to remove
the protective film*.
• Then fold down the sheath into accordion folds without
touching the catheter.
FOR A SIMPLIFIED NO TOUCH TECHNIQUE
• Release a movable no touch sheath by gripping and tearing
off the film at mark «B». This movable part will protect the
catheter when handling.
IF YOU WANT TO RELEASE THE WHOLE CATHETER:
• After removing the film at mark «1» from the connector side,
hold the cone and lift the catheter out of the packaging.
*Option 2 may be easier if you have reduced dexterity.

3. CATHETERISATION:
Actreen® Hi-Lite
Cath
can be connected to a urine collection bag.
MALE
• With one hand hold the penis upwards to reduce curvature
of the urethra.
• With the other hand carefully introduce the catheter into
the urethra until it reaches the bladder. Point your penis
downwards in case of resistance. Continue inserting the
catheter until urine starts to flow.
• Tiemann/Coudé catheter : In order to correctly guide the catheter, ensure that the
mark on the connector is pointing upwards.
FEMALE
• With one hand spread the outer lips of the vulva to locate
the urethral opening. With the other hand carefully
introduce the catheter into the urethra until it reaches
the bladder and the urine drains.
MALE / FEMALE
• Manual pressure on the lower abdomen towards the end of catheterisation will
ensure that the bladder has been completely emptied.
• When the bladder is completely empty, gently withdraw the catheter.
• To stop the catheter dripping you can turn up the connector end of the catheter
when removing.
• Then discard the catheter according to the current local regulations.
Self-catheterisation should only be carried out under medical advice and
only in accordance with the instructions given.
