8. Operation

a) Installation
Safety precautions at the installation site
EM cards operate at a frequency of 125 kHz. Therefore observe the following
instructions:
1. Make sure that the installation site is not subjected to any strong, deep
electromagnetic frequencies. Especially avoid frequencies between 100 - 200 kHz
at the installation site.
2. If more than one reader is in operation within the same frequency range, make
sure that they are installed at least 60 cm apart from one another. Otherwise
interference may occur, reducing the reading range.
Safety precautions for accidental short-circuiting
During installation, the product can be very easily damaged due to negligence.
Especially when circuit board components come into contact with current-carrying
components (e.g. wiring) unintentionally. To prevent damage to the product during
installation, observe the following safety precautions:
1. Read the operating instructions carefully before beginning installation.
2. Do not supply any power to any connectors on the product during installation.
3. Check all wire connections carefully to make sure they are correct before
connecting the card reader to the power supply to test it.
Safety precautions for electrical peaks and feedback
Make sure that the included diode or a varistor (not included) is connected via the
power input of the electrical door lock. Failure to install this component may cause
damage to the product's electrical components. In the worst case scenario, the card
reader may burn out.
