f) Setting function "BACKLIGHT"
The backlight compensation set depending on the direction of the camera, e.g. the camera may
point in the direction of the sun during the course of the day.
"OFF"
Backlight compensation turned off
"BLC"
Backlight compensation turned on
"HLC"
Turns on both the backlight compensation and an additional masking func-
tion for image areas that are too bright (image areas that are too bright are
automatically masked in "black")
This setting leads to image distortions (areas that are too bright areas are
coloured black), but this allows better observation of objects that lie directly
adjacent to the bright parts of the image, as well as a better display of the
image signals.
Furthermore, it also protects old CRT monitors, or plasma monitors, from very
bright image areas burning in, if these are displayed for a long time (not re-
quired for monitors with LCD technology).
g) Setting function "PICT ADJUST"
All functions that are used to adjust the picture adjustment are gathered here:
"MIRROR"
Horizontal image mirroring
"BRIGHTNESS"
Brightness
"CONTRAST"
Contrast
"SHARPNESS"
Image sharpness
"HUE"
Colour value
"GAIN"
Colour strength
h) Setting function "ATR"
This function can improve the presentation of images where there is a signifi cant contrast
between dark and light image areas.
If the camera is directed at a bright window indoors, for example, it is diffi cult to see anything in
the image, apart from the bright window.
The function is also very important at night so, for example, cars driving by with high-beam head-
lamps do not cause the surroundings to be no longer visible.
You can select the settings for brightness and contrast independently of each other in 3 phases
each (low, medium, high).
