Open the cover (8) of the brewing unit.

Turn the adjustment knob (16) to the desired position with the mill running (Fig. F).
The smaller the dots, the finer the coffee is ground. The following thereby applies:
- Lightly roasted beans require a fine setting.
- Dark roasted beans require a coarse setting.
3. Preparation

The coffee machine has been set up at the factory so that you can immedi-
ately make your first cup of coffee. We would recommend, however, that you
program the most important basic settings according to your requirements.
You should therefore first carry out the steps explained in «chapter 4 pro-
gramming» for setting the language, filter and water hardness (if you have
not already done this during the first operational start up, chapter 2.3).

When using the coffee machine for the first time, or if the appliance has not
been used for a long time, the first cup of coffee will not have a full flavour and
should not be drunk.
Attention
When you make a coffee for the first time, the mill chamber is still empty. It can hap-
pen that the «Fill beans» display appears after the first grinding action and the appli-
ance will not make any coffee. In this case, simply press the right control knob (3)
again and the procedure will be repeated.
3.1 Operating elements / Display
Operating your fully automatic Rotel coffee machine is very simple. The two operat-
ing elements have the following basic functions:
Left control knob (2):

This serves as a combined switch and knob for water, milk and bean quantity set-
tings on the first menu level.
•
For all other menu levels it can be used as an exit switch.
Right control knob (3):
•
On the first menu level you choose your drink by turning this knob. If you press this
knob you start preparation of the drink selected on the display.

On the second menu level (settings) this control is used to navigate and confirm.
