APPENDIX C: MassFlowCommunicator (PC SOFTWARE)

The PC program MassFlowComminucator is designed for communication with the
devices from Bürkert's MassFlowController family. It is used for configuration and
passing parameters. Further more diagnostic functions are available.
- Diagnostic Data
This function displays for example the internal current and temperature
monitoring system.
- Device Settings
Enables to display / configuration the current device status.
- Monitoring
Short overview of all connected devices (with this function to force set points via
the connected PC)
- Datalogger
The Datalogger enables the record of the process over a longer period of time
(days / weeks)
- Dynamic Reading
Records the parameters setpoint (w), process value (x) and manipulated
variable (y ) in real time and graphs them. The recorded data enables to draw

conclusions on the system and its components. Based on the recorded data
internal malfunctions can be analysed. The records can be stored as a Windows
file and send by e-maill to Bürkert.
The MassFlowCommunicator enables to update the firmware of the device
(Flash).
NOTE
ATTENTION!
The program uses the Windows operating system (ex Windows
98) and requires a serial interface (RS 232 or RS 485) to com-
municate with the MassFlowControllers or MassFlowMeters.
With the types 8710 / 8700, 8711 / 8701, a RS 232 adapter with
interface driver is required. With the types 8713 / 8703 the
interface driver is integrared in the the RS 485-Interface, the use
of the RS 232-Interface requires a RS 232 adapter with interface
driver (see ASSECOIRES in APPENDIX A). For a more easy
and comfortable connection of the types 8626 / 8006 / 8712 /
8702 / 8716 / 8706 an adapter is also available
(see ASSECOIRES in APPENDIX A).
