6.4.1 Adjustable groove cutter (optional accessory)
The optional adjustable groove cutter is an indexable-insert adjustable groove cutter that is adjustable to
different milling widths. The adjustable groove cutter is available in two versions:
- Milling widths between 22 and 40 mm for article number 091899
- Milling widths between 15.4 and 28.4 mm for article number 091904
The adjustable grooving cutter comes with various spacer discs. These allow you to set different intermediate
widths.
Depending on the version, the adjustable grooving cutter is equipped with 10 or 12 carbide indexable inserts.
- 12 carbide indexable inserts for article number 091899
- 10 carbide indexable inserts for article number 091904
They cannot be resharpened. When the cutting edges are blunt, the carbide inserts are turned or replaced.
Only the screws and inserts intended for this purpose by MAFELL may be used.
Use the following procedure to adjust the
adjustable groove cutter:
1. Combine the enclosed spacer discs such that
the required width can be set for the
adjustable groove cutter (the adjustable
groove cutter cuts a 22 mm wide groove
without spacer discs).
2. Place the assembled spacer disc package
onto the pins at the rear part of the adjustable
groove cutter.
3. Place the unused spacer discs onto the front
part of the adjustable groove cutter.
4. Then place the front part of the adjustable
groove cutter onto the spacer disc package.
5. Now fix both parts of the adjustable groove
cutter with the front adjustable groove cutter
flange and mount the complete adjustable
groove cutter onto the NFU50 drive flange.
The tools and indexable inserts of the

adjustable groove cutter are changed in
the same way as the NFU50 milling
head, which is described in the chapters
below.
The adjustable groove cutter is set.

Never exceed the adjustment range indicated on the adjustable groove cutter. Make sure
to always install all spacer discs provided.
