Environmental conditions
The following climatic ambient conditions must be observed:
•
Temperature
•
Altitude
•
Relative humidity
•
Degree of pollution
•
Aggressive substances
Note
Please also refer to the sections "Place of installation", "Suitable enclosure/control cabinet" and "Ventilation and heat
dissipation".
The climatic operating conditions of the products meet or exceed the requirements of IEC 60721-3-3 for weather-protected,
stationary use in the class specified below:
Class 3K3 (climatic requirements)
Condition
Temperature
Air pressure (elevation)
Relative humidity
Degree of pollution
Aggressive substances
The following applies to Ex applications:
For installation in zones with an occasionally occurring potentially explosive atmosphere, the degree of pollution of the
environment must not exceed 2 in accordance with IEC 60664-1.
3.9
Temperature, ventilation and heat dissipation
The following factors play a role in ensuring adequate ventilation and heat dissipation of the products:
•
Selection of a suitable IP degree of protection for the enclosure/control cabinet
•
Forced ventilation of the enclosure/control cabinet may be necessary
•
Observe the specified minimum distances between the products in the enclosure/control cabinet
The temperature in the enclosure/control cabinet is higher than the ambient temperature at the place of installation due to
the heat generated by the products. The temperature in the enclosure/control cabinet is therefore the relevant ambient
temperature for the products. This also applies to cables and components connected in the enclosure/control cabinet. Check
the temperature development in the enclosure/control cabinet in accordance with the relevant standards.
If you want to calculate the temperature development in the enclosure/control cabinet, you will find information on power
loss in the technical specifications of the respective products.
The permissible ambient temperature can be found in the technical specifications of the respective products.

Permitted range
The permissible ambient temperature
can be found in the technical
specifications.

Explanation
Observe the information in section
"Ventilation and heat dissipation".
The density of air decreases with
increasing elevation, thereby reducing
the possible cooling effect. Observe the
information in section "Ventilation and
heat dissipation".
Without condensation, relative
humidity conforms to level RH-2
according to IEC 61131 Part 2, tested in
accordance with IEC 60068-2-78 (damp
heat).
Test: 10 ppm; 4 days
Test: 1 ppm; 4 days
The products can be ordered with a
conformal coating. Further additional
measures are required.
