3.5 Ex applications
Special conditions
The following special conditions apply to the product:
• The device may only be used in an area of not more than pollution degree 2 as defined in IEC 60664-1.
• The device must be installed in a suitable enclosure that guarantees at least IP54 degree of protection according to IEC
60079-0. The environmental conditions must be taken into account during use.
• Protective measures must be taken to prevent the rated voltage from being exceeded by transient disturbances of more
than 119 V.
• Protective measures must be taken to prevent the rated operating voltage from being exceeded by transient disturbances
of more than 140% of the peak rated voltage.
• The enclosure may only be accessible with appropriate tools.
3.6 Place of installation
To select a suitable place of installation for your enclosure/control cabinet, the following basic aspects must be taken into
account:
1. The permissible climatic ambient conditions
2. The appropriate electromagnetic environment
3. Zones with potentially explosive atmospheres
4. Mechanical loads, vibrations and shock
5. Access restricted to qualified and authorized personnel only (Safety&Security)

When selecting the installation location, pay attention to vibrations and shock and select suitable installation locations. If
necessary, use vibration dampers on the enclosure/control cabinet, for example in mobile applications or near machines that
vibrate strongly.
For attenuation within the enclosure/control cabinet, you can consider damping materials such as vibration metals.
The mechanical operating conditions of the products meet or exceed the requirements of IEC 60721-3-3 for weather-
protected, stationary use in the following specified class:

3.7 Suitable enclosure/control cabinet
Select a protection class for your enclosure/control cabinet that matches the ambient conditions at the place of installation.
The required minimum degree of protection is IP20.
For installation in hazardous zone 2, the degree of protection of your enclosure/control cabinet must be at least IP54.
