Installation instructions

Disregarding installation instructions or incorrect
installation can put people in danger and cause
damage to property.
Possible risk of cut injuries from sharp edges. It is essen-
tial to wear protective gloves during installation!

Heating while driving

For heating while driving, the UN ECE regulation 122 stipulates
a safety shut-off device to prevent the uncontrolled escape of
gas in the event of an accident. The Truma MonoControl CS
gas pressure regulation system fulfils this requirement.
National regulations and rules must be followed.
If no safety shut-off device (e.g. MonoControl CS) is installed,
the gas cylinder must be closed while driving and notices
must be attached in accordance with the valid regulations.

Regulations

The rules in the installation and operating instructions
and the respective valid laws, directives and standards
must be observed. The appliance's operating permit, and con-
sequently also the vehicle's operating permit in some coun-
tries, are rendered void if the regulations are not followed.
Material defect claims, warranty claims and liability claims
against Truma are excluded in the cases described in the op-
erating instructions under the heading "Warranty exclusions".
The year when the equipment was first put into operation
must be indicated with a cross on the type plate (66).

Special information for installation

The appliance and its exhaust gas system must always be
installed so that they are easy to access at all times for service
work, and also easy to remove and install.

Location of the heater

The driver must not come into contact with the heater
from his seat. The heater must not be installed directly
behind the driver's seat.
Avoid installation in narrow passageways. In particular,
accidental contact with hot surfaces or escaping warm
air must be prevented by suitable measures where vulnerable
persons such as children are present. The installer is responsi-
ble for this.
Using the installation template, check whether the floor cut-
out for the combustion air intake should be on the left or the
right.
The combustion air must not be taken from the vehicle
interior. The combustion air must always be supplied
from outside. The combustion air intake must not be subject-
ed to wheel spray, otherwise fit a splash guard.
The floor cut-out for the appliance must be installed so
that no contaminated air (exhaust fumes, petrol vapour
or oil vapour) can penetrate the interior of the vehicle.
There must not be any heat-sensitive materials beneath
the appliance (cut out the carpet floor). On PVC floors,
discolouration may occur due to heating of the heater base.
There must also be no flammable / heat-sensitive materials on
the vehicle underbody close to the combustion air infeed.
If the heater is installed on a floor base, false floor or
similar, it is essential to use the air intake exten-
sion 500 mm (with 50 cm air intake duct). The air intake ex-
tension must protrude into the air flow approx 5 to 10 cm be-
low the lowest part of the vehicle (pay attention to ground
clearance of the vehicle). 2 air intake extensions are required
for the S 5004.
The floor base or false floor must be sealed off from the
vehicle interior and made from non-combustible materi-
al, or have an inner lining made from sheet metal. To prevent
unburned gas from building up, the floor base must have a
vent at least 2 cm² in size at its lowest point, or must be open
at the bottom.
