Patient safety
The most important parameter in laser treatment is the energy flux
density at the treatment area, i.e. the applied laser energy divided
by the area of the laser spot.
On the VISULAS YAG III, the energy of the laser pulse can be pre-
set.
Note for VISULAS YAG III Combi:
The most important parameter in laser treatment is the power
density at the treatment area, i.e. the applied laser power
divided by the area of the laser spot. To achieve a constant
physiological effect, the power output must also be changed
when the spot diameter is changed.
On
the
VISULAS YAG III Combi,
(VISULAS 532s mode) or the energy (VISULAS YAG III mode)
can be pre-set.
Explosion and fire hazards
Do not use the laser in combination with flammable anaesthetics.
Keep explosive materials away from the laser hazard area. Easily
flammable materials may cause fire.
Laser beams can set fire to many explosive or flammable gases and
liquids, including some solvents used in preparing for surgical
procedures.
Keep flammable drapes, surgical gowns, gauze and other
flammable materials out of the beam path. We recommend using
non-flammable materials and instruments and wearing gowns and
clothing that do not easily catch fire.
Keep a fire extinguisher near the laser device.
