Calibration of energy measurement

The VISULAS YAG III is calibrated such that the energy setting on the
control panel coincides with the actual energy delivered to the area
treated. The calibration of the energy measurement system must be
checked at least once every 12 months.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) demands that
manufacturers of Class III and IV medical laser instruments provide US
customers with energy measurement system calibration procedures.
Warning
Energy measurement system calibration is a service procedure to be
performed only by trained and authorised service technicians. Because
of the risk of exposure to laser radiation, this procedure is dangerous.
Improper calibration can lead to serious injury.
The control unit and the laser console may only be opened by Carl
Zeiss Meditec service technicians or by other persons who have been
expressly authorised to do so in writing.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage or injury caused by
unauthorised personnel tampering with the instrument. Such actions
will also render any warranty claims invalid.
These instructions are written for service technicians who have been
officially trained by the manufacturer.
Possession of service literature (service manual, installation instructions
or similar) and/or the required tools does not entitle unauthorised
persons to calibrate or otherwise service this laser device.

Requirements

Before carrying out calibration of the instrument, the optics of the laser
system must be:
perfectly adjusted and
absolutely clean.
Alignment and cleaning of the optical system may only be carried out
by authorised service technicians.
